Set in the aftermath of Red Alert 3, the global superpowers have been devastated by the war and an uneasy peace has descended onto the war-torn world. Yet the actions committed in the time-stream still have grave repercussions, as the paradox comes to a head and the impossible becomes possible... Red Alert 3 Paradox is an unofficial expansion pack project for Red Alert 3. Looking to expand the gameplay as much as possible, Paradox promises more than thrice as many units as the original, with dozens of new units in the existing sides and five new factions arising; the patriotic Confederate Revolutionaries, the sinister Mediterranean Syndicate, the otherworldly Atomic Kingdom of China, the noble Order of the Talon and the horrifying Electrical Protectorate.

This could be a personal taste, but the music doesn't sound very battlefield-appropriate...

But besides that, AMAZING!

You're actually not the first, but I think it might be a case of not imaging it right.

Instead of thinking of some epic tank slugfest in the snow like on the video, think of old, rusty tanks speeding across cornfields in the American mid-west, American flags and "Don't Tread On Me" banners fluttering, descending on a hapless squad of Peacekeepers who have only thier beanbag-loaded shotguns to protect themselves from these "rioters". In my mind, at least, the music fits perfectly.

Our balance is still a little wonky, and my friend helping me for some of these shots was very... enthusiastic on the Allied side.

In addition, we set up awesome setpiece battles for you... which is exactly the opposite of what a smart Confederate player SHOULD be doing. We just didn't have the stealth tech working quite right to show REAL Confederate fights yet.

It's hard to tell. We're getting things in hand-over-fist at the moment but I don't know how long that momentum will last.

I´m waiting to put my hands on this mod!

That's why you never go head-to-head when you play as the Rebs. Use the tanks as distractions while you build a base inside your opponent's.

the_ferriswheel_man, did you compose this? I'm not trying to insult this, but it just sounds off. I like the basic melody, but it needs to be less twangy. No offense.

Fine you win. As long as you include another battle theme for the confeds.

I remember. I can't stand "Mecha Storm" either. I hate that combat track! It sounds like race cars going around the track!

i think you might want to make ships and wheeled vehicles turn on a radius, so they won't just turn on the spot like the ifv now ad the ranger at the start. it looks wierd.

also for some reason the particle expeller doesn't give the impression of an extremly powerful weapon when firing - perhaps you might want to give a recoil animation in the future?

lol this is awesome, the music is so different lol i like it, confederates would have a hard time against sov and empire armoured units, hmmz, guess they are more guerilla tactic type units, if they are cheaper to build with than other factions then the weaker units in larger numbers balances it right? IDK im no modder, wish i could do this stuff, where can i learn? lol

Kerensky287 Nov 7 2009, 2:09am replied:

Interestingly enough they AREN'T generally cheaper than other factions. The idea with the Confederates is that if you're in a fair fight with your enemy, you made a mistake in planning.

The Confederates have their advantages in that they're often skilled at inflicting light casualties on their opponent without taking casualties themselves... assuming you plan properly. Plant some mines and hit them after they've gone through, or drop a few Demo Truck bombs hidden by PAWIs, or soften them up with a Duster or two... the Confederates thrive on having every advantage they can get, because if they don't, they get steamrolled.

Description

It's a video!

Hey guys! It's about time we got another video update! Here, we're showing off some of the epic battles that we've been having while playing the Confederate Revolutionaries. You'll see a ton of new units that we haven't shown off yet, the new directional armour system (it's the reason why Guardians are a little more resistant to shots from the front), and a few extra little goodies we've tossed in just for fun. Also included is an updated version of the Confederate battle soundtrack. Enjoy!

UPDATE: Now in HD!
