An expansion/overhaul mod of epic proportions, with entirely rebalanced gameplay, expanded factions, new gametypes, graphical overhauls, and five new factions; stealth-based Confederate Revolutionaries, tower defense-inspired Atomic Kingdom of China, economy-focused Mediterranean Syndicate, DotA-esque Order of the Talon and spammy Electrical Protectorate.

*Cough* Fourth Wall. Those are obviously crates that contain intelligence. Upon it's recovery, Soviet Commanders become happy, and grant a field promotion.

They took some artistic license to make it look like an actual Soviet tank, instead of a blob of pixels like the original. In this case, it was based on the T-34.

If you want RA3 models that look like the original, go to our associates at The Red Alert mod.

Dunno why in a 3D game with beautiful shaders and lighting you would want a few pixels that represent a tank when you could have a full 3D model with specular and normal maps applied.

He dosent want a blob of pixels, he wants a double-barreled T-80 which was what the heavy tank was in the original game.

Amazing stuff you guys!! Although its kind of hard to make out all of the details, which I think is indeed just the map's fault. Put those beasties in the tropics and lets see 'em then.

Either way its lookin good

The JS-3 misses out... Elephant and Mammoth both go ingame (eventually), Terminator goes in the dusty box of unit which won't exist.

Looking really Sovietish! But to be honest its quite hard to recognize RA1 tank in this awesome model, looks more like real T34 tank (http://mirageswar.com/uploads/posts/2009-01/1233182577_10303.jpg).

Exactly. The tank in RA1 was basicly a two-cannon version of the GDI TD Tank (itself basicly an Abrams), which clashed with our vision of WW2.

From what I heard, the original Soviet Heavy Tank was based on the real life T-80U.

in the cutscenes that is, and like a double barraled T80U fits better in WWII

Is there going to be better zoom functions in Paradox? Like shock therapy? Because if we could get those in sooner rather than later it might help show off new units in-game.

More seriously, I think I am going to like the balance changes created by the Anvil even though I hated the Soviet faction in normal RA3.

Description

With the vast majority of release 1 content done or being polished, parts of the team have been able to move on to Release 2 stuff, which we are all looking forward to, I imagine! The Soviet Anvil tank, which C&C Vets will reconize as the RA1 heavy tank, has been put back into service as the Soviet tier 1 heavy tank. Though it's outclassed by modern tanks and can be painfully slow, the mighty Anvil can still absorb a lot of damage, chew up lighter vehicles, crush infantry, and garrison two soldiers to provide supporting fire. During the early game it gives the Soviets some serious attacking power, and later on it's garrison feature can be used by telsa or chem troops, making it very powerful indeed.
