And please do not tell me fables about poor and starving people in communist states. What do you know about it? In MY state there were NO starving, NO homeless, NO unemployed, NO criminals, NO drugs, and no other crap which I see today.
And try to find China on geographical map, before you say something else. You can easily find it between Russian, India, Japan and Vietnam.

No offense but Russia's past is not pretty.Remember how they executed all the GOOD army officers dureing the "great Purge" before world war II.In the first weeks of the Great Patriotic War the Wehrmacht defeated many Red Army units. The Red Army lost millions of men as prisoners and lost much of its pre-war matériel. Stalin increased mobilization, and by 1 August 1941, despite 46 divisions lost in combat, the Red Army’s strength was 401 divisions.

The unprepared Soviet forces suffered much damage in the field because of mediocre officers (the purges), partial mobilization, and an incomplete reorganization.

Mate you mix everything in one place: some mediocre commanders, Stalin, communism, arrested officers. For example: do you know who exactly and why was executed? Why really RA sustained seroius loss at the beginning of war? Who told you that old officers were replaced by mediocre ones? And those numbers as you say...they do not coincide with reality. And what means "partial mobilization" ? :)
