The film takes places in a surreal, technocratic future. Humanity has lost it's connection to the soil and lives in 'Skycities' high above the ground. They are supported by a network of bridges and their foundation is build on the cities below, which became over flooded and polluted in the past. One state has won the total war and dominates all others, turning humans into mere cogs in a machine. The remnants of that state's army are returning home after fighting a long and victorious battle. They get attacked by their own corporation's, next generation of advanced war machinery: Mechs. The greater part of the human army is erased, but the few hundred survivors forge a plan how to take vengeance on their rulers and re-install order in the homeland. While millions of people have died, hundreds of thousands of robots were built and now humanity faces another fight, this time against its own creation and by another means than open war. What caused the post war trauma - the decay of human civilization and the rise of the robots - has yet to be uncovered. The story is a dedication to the great work of Isaac Asimov and Philip K. Dick in particular.
Latest News: MechOverride - The Future is Now
4 comments by SinKing on Jan 8th, 2009 digg this super bookmark Hello Everyone, I know it has been terribly quiet about MechOverride in the past three months. There are many good reasons for that, because the project had to be entirely re-structured. We finally, and with great regret, took leave of the Rotoscope Filter for Unreal 3. Our project will no longer be a mod based on a game, but is "just" a normal CGI production now; all our scenes will be pre-rendered and post-produced (finalizing, color grading, effects...) So with great relief we announce the rebirth of Mech-Override as an Episodical Shortfilm Feature, with episodes of 4 minutes duration, each. The one we start working on, starting January 20th, is the prolog, which will introduce you to the great city of Talon. All Episodes are connected, even though they are not in chronological order. It's a most challenging screenplay, which evolved from our original screenplay "MechOverride", which you can read in Moddb's Writer's Club, now! Our team is smaller, now. I put everyone I thought fit in other mod teams, so I didn't desert anyone, who didn't deserve it. We are now eight people, have a great new concept artist and Motion-Capture proved to work flawlessly and will make it a piece of cake to create new scenes, once all the assets are done. Even though we are not a mod any more, I'd like to keep our place on Moddb, for we still feel like being part of this community. Thanks for your patience with us. Go, read the old script and you'll surely find some quality in its story. Expect the same for each of our episodes and don't underestimate the effects of non-chronological writing. It's my very own speciality and it ill vow you over, once you start undestanding the complexity.

your avatar is too awesome for this mod to be dead. also, mechs are awesome as well!
No, we're not troubled. In fact the project has changed since January and more and more skilled people joined the team. We are not a Mod any more. I could use a mapper, but not for UnrealED, but in Max instead.
Everything will be pre-rendered. This is a full CGI-film (Incredibles, Finding Nemo, Appleseed Ex Machina...) and we are NOT using Rotoscope shading, but instead go for a high detail. If you want to apply, send me a PM or visit our server and apply with our CO-Leader Fábio.
I'm not accepting beginners into the team, though. You have to work fast, be reliable, easygoing and open to constructive criticism.
Best of luck SinKing! :)
Thats awesome man... keep it up
hey sinking....i see (or atleast think I understand)that your mods having trouble...and appertly annoyences are increasing...I like your ideas and all....lol still dont get how you got the rotoscope to work on this =P...then agian, im not a scripter. im a mapper....well unless kismit counts >.< ....well anyway, just wondering if you wanted a mapper...i cant be here all the time (school and all) but i'd be happy to help when i can. alright well see you later....(i think =P)
Ha, development phases are always fun are they not?
It looks like this project will do well, and the style is something different from the dirty/sheen that is unreal.
This freaking project is giving me the headache of a lifetime. If - simply if - my team members were to complete an asset within its deadline. We keep running late, even though most people are doing fine there is always one or two, who don't bother to give me a head up. This is making me angry, because I put so much time into the development of this project, I don't want to babysit and nurse broken teenager hearts, or get involved with any spiritual shit that drives people.
It's really sad, how difficult this all is, because if everyone just finished the job I assigned to them, the film would already be half-made.
well, i hope you do good on this ... really wanna see it ...
Since it isn't going to be playable ... you might wanna look into rypelcam ;) Rypelcam.net

It will be too poly-intensive to be playable and balanced, but there is at least one great map, I would like to see released for deathmatch. It's a gigantic bridge high above the ground spanning a gap between two circles of a town. This map will have several ways to cross it, either through the sewage and service pipes, on one of the two main levels, or by hoverboat along it's side.
One team would have to defend the inner town's entry, while the other would have to storm and breakdown the main doors by any means.
Still looking forward to play-watch it :P ... I do kinda like the idea of this ... blend the lines between games and movies ...
