GoldenEye: Source is a total conversion modification of Half-Life 2. It is a fan made recreation, released for free, with only one goal in mind; to bring the memories and experiences from the original GoldenEye64 back to life using Source Technology. We want you to look at this mod and remember the first best multiplayer first-person shooter ever made. We are doing our best to bring in the opinions of the community to create a game that everyone is going to enjoy. But, we are not here to recreate the game exactly how it was in GE64, a lot of things have changed since they first designed that game, mainly in technology and gamers experiences. We are here to take the game even further but at the same time provide a lot of those fun elements that hardcore GE64 fans will enjoy. We've got experienced team members all across the board, from professional level, to amateurs looking to make it into the business working hard to make this dream a reality.

The BETA 3 has been a long development process, and probably even a longer wait for our community. The process all started with the switch to the new Source Orange Box Engine, and completely started our code from scratch, in light of the new Engine. We are very excited to have finally gotten to this point, and we know that you, the fans, will be even happier once you get your hands on it.

More information on the details of BETA 3 will be made available on release day or check our wiki as the week goes on. The wiki can be reached through our site!

Maps have extra areas added to account for the increase in players. Around 10-12 players per server is a good size.

To be more technical, the scale is greatly increased also. Maps are more on par with modern day standards as far as size. The layouts remain the same feeling. You wont lose your nostalgia, and if you are picky about these things join a server hosting "classic" maps which are completely scaled to n64 size.

By the way I hope that the radar can be turned off. Not fun when enemy knows where you are.

Yes, it can be. It can either be forced off, or you can join maps with it turned off.

Is this beta going to include the single player missions or is it just multiplayer?

wake[of]thebunt Feb 2 2009 replied:

Just multiplayer. We have always had the goal to finish MP completely then move to SP if things work out by then.

When we have bot support you might see community folk come out with ideas like scripting some co-op etc.

Hilarious song!!!
Honestly cannot stop laughing at that one, singer is awesome :)

To gain my composure for a second, let me say Thank You to the team for all your hard work. No seriously, thank you very very much! I really appreciate the time, energy, and work that all of you fine folks have put into this mod. I still play Goldeneye on my N64 so you that should tell you how much I love that game.

I will be posting about this mod on every gaming site that I have an account with and maybe even some non gaming sites for the hell of it. I strongly suggest that everyone tell all their friends with source games and maybe even send links to some Steam friends that you know would like it. Word of mouth is the best way to get a kick *** release day turnout which this mod most definitely deserves :)
