GMod is a Sandbox Modification.
Using GMod you can pose ragdolls. This means can position people from HL2/CS/DoD and change their faces. A big comic book creating community has popped up around this feature.
Using GMod you can build. Take props from HL2/CS/DoD and weld them together to make walls. Axis a wheel to it to create a working car. Rope some cans to the back. A big contraption creating community has popped up around GMod - creating such things as Rube Goldberg devices, catapults, cannons, bridges etc..
Using GMod you can make your own weapons. That's right, make your own weapons. Using Lua you can create a custom weapon to do just about anything. If you're new you can change simple things like rate of fire, models, sounds. If you're awesome the world is your oyster, mass changing guns, melon cannons, jetpacks.
GMod gives you the freedom to do any of these things in single player or online with your friends.

For those of you out there who are interested in things like this, Garrys Mod (MotY 2005) is now available via Steam for the incredible price of $9.95 (Plus tax) if you have a Steam game already installed, or as a bundle with CS:S for $24.95 (Again plus tax).
If you're curious about how this affects its standing on Mod DB, we will still continue to support this as it is a modification of the original engine. It is, however, now listed in the games section which will enable you all to add your own mods (Modmods?) and addons to this site and our sister site, Addon DB.
As a side note, Steam now accepts PayPal for purchases so all you people stuck with debit cards and bank transfers can buy games.

Yo um guyz 1 problem when i start garrys mod it gives me an error that says something about apps or something like that any help?

sigh... it is almost the same people who complain about anything and if you cant buy it ASK YOUR PARENTS!!!! and this is a great mod. i don't have it but i don't complain about it.
Still think it's freakin' bullsh*t you have to pay for something that uses, pretty much everything from source coding and source games.
Meh, whatever.
It only 10 freaking dollars and it was the best 10 dollars I have ever spent.
