Another day, another preview.

Continuing the last preview, I wanted to explain the new sellsword system a bit better, especially now that I've managed to make it a bit more nuanced than the one described in the last post.

Basically, there'll be three "different" kind of sellswords obtainable in A Clash of Kings.

Zimke items 1Zimke items 2

The first kind is the one described in the last preview, where the player can recruit "lances" consisting of 20 men from the major free cities - but only 12 from each city. After that, the sellswords available become shockingly inferior, basically just wandering bands of brigands, much like the Brave Companions from the books. It still allows for more than 2000 high quality troops to be recruited, but it will obviously be changed if it turns out to be too few. The player will still be able to recruit troops from Westeros which retains the native system, and also hire sellswords from the taverns.

The Free Cities, however, now also contains proper sellsword companies. As an example, the Bright Banners can be recruited from Lorath once. That particular sellsword company costs 75000 coins to hire, and consists of a 100 men. That's a lot of gold, and something with which you could buy a very decent suit of plate armor and a lot of enterprises, but hiring a sellsword company is a major advantage, as they don't take into account the players party size. Say you've got a maximum party size of 100 men - you've filled it with Stormlands Archers. But that's not nearly enough to take on Tywin Lannister and establish your own kingdom! But if you've amassed a great amount of wealth, you can skip across the Narrow Sea and hire some sellsword companies, and while your maximum party size might be 100, and already reached, it won't matter, and you can now start your war of conquest with your 100 Stormlands Archers, and 100 sellswords from the Bright Banners. This is the second kind of sellsword recruitment.

The third one is more of a novelty feature. Some towns and castles (with more to come in future versions) have been given an extra town option. If you visit White Harbor, you'll be able to scroll down and click the "Visit Fishfoot Yard" option, which will transport you to another menu where a short text will give you some info about Fishfoot Yard, White Harbor and also allow you to recruit the 10 White Harbor Knights currently standing around and looking for employment. This is a one time thing - you won't be able to recruit them again, but it should give certain locations a bit more flavor. I'll probably expand this feature in future versions, both in regards to recruitable troops and just as a way to make towns more interesting (perhaps you can buy a pound of cheap spice in Volantis, who knows). The upcoming world book should be a great source of inspiration in that regard.

If you've read this far, you've probably noticed the "donations" part of the post title.

The donation button has been available for a long time, and a lot of people have been more than generous in donating, without knowing what their money was going towards.

Well, the donation pool finally reached the size where I felt comfortable commisioning new items for A Clash of Kings. All donations go towards new items, models and textures for A Clash of Kings, and eventually A Clash of Kings II.

Docm30 of L'aigle fame (link: Forums.taleworlds.com ), and Zimke Zlovoljni from the Age of Change II team (link: Forums.taleworlds.com ) have both allowed me to pay them for their work and time and as a result, A Clash of Kings is looking much better.

That's all for now. I don't know when A Clash of Kings 1.4 will be ready, but it shouldn't be too long - I want it to be out before the world book gets released so I can incorporate lore from that much anticipated source into 1.5.

It would appear that you deleted the comments I made without reading them however thank you for your reply and please read the following carefully. In my previous comments I was referring to the tremendous imbalance between the players ability to gather and train troops as it takes an ungodly amount of time for the player to get to heavy knights, (approximately 90 in game days) when compared to the magical abilities seen within NPC's with their resounding capability of raising them in under 3 in game days. Even at training level 10 my party receives 340 exp per day which is roughly the equivalent of 2 kills. This would take 1000's of in game days to raise a single knight. From my personal experience even from buying pre trained units (mounted serjants) and maxing out my training level I was only able to muster two knights (let alone heavy knights) within 80 in-game days try as they might my two knights were no match for the NPC's super natural summoning prowess as if by magic they are able to muster 3x that number of knights and 4-5 heavy knights in under 3 days. Now Cozur this is what I and others request, To address this imbalance by either nerfing NPC's ability to train and acquire units or buff the players ability to do so and reduce the exp required for units to level up. Other than this flaw the mod is truly superb, I did make a review which goes into more detail, if you so choose to read it.

Cozur's God Complex make this mod not enjoyable, he refuses to listen to fan requests and treats any criticism unwell. All in all, he should have never released this mod if he was going to pretend others that download this mod do not exist in any form apart from to inflate his overblown ego.
