A Clash of Kings is a modification, set in the fictional "A Song of Ice and Fire" universe, for the popular Taleworlds game "Mount and Blade: Warband" version 1.143, 1.153, 1.154, 1.157 and 1.158.

To install the mod, simply unpack the downloadable file, using a program such as Winrar, and extract it to the Mount&Blade Warband\Modules folder.

A Clash of Kings is based on the series of books by author George R. R Martin, "A Song of Ice and Fire" and the modification is named after the second book in the series, during which time the modification takes place. For those interested in learning more about the rich world that Martin has created, please visit one of the following websites:
And obviously, read the books.
A Song of Ice and Fire has recently been adapted into a TV-series by HBO, called Game of Thrones, with the third season airing in march 2013. For more information on the TV-series, follow this link:

The story behind the universe, that this modification is set in, is simply too rich and detailed for me to give even a brief overview here, but I can only recommend diving into it. If you want to know more, take a look at this:
"A Clash of Kings" features eighteen unique factions, each with their own troops, distinct cultures and custom settlements, as well as a "secret" emerging faction.
For more information, follow this link:
Encompassing all of Westeros and the western part of Essos, the map for "A Clash of Kings" might well be the most detailed map ever made for a Mount and Blade: Warband modification. The picture below shows the approximate area included in the in-game map.
While keeping the core Mount and Blade gameplay, "A Clash of Kings" adds many new exciting features, such as:
Custom settlements for many iconic locations, such as King's Landing, Winterfell, Moat Cailin, Storm's End and Highgarden
A new skill, foraging.
New companions, all with their own unique backstory.
New terrain textures.
New scene props.
New building textures.
New user interface.
Many new scripts.
An invading faction.
Many custom units.
A new way of recruitment.
New heraldic items.
And much more.

Second preview for 1.1, this time taking a look at some of the various tweaks and bugfixes. Plus, plans for future versions, post 1.1.
This preview basically deals with some of the various questions repeatedly asked during the last few months, plus gives a quick overview of some of the minor stuff I've been working on for 1.1.
First of all, I would like to point you guys towards the updated FAQ: Moddb.com
If you have any further questions regarding the modification, design philosophy and so on, feel free to PM me. But not if your question has already been answered.
Anyhow, while 1.1 contains some neat new stuff, it also contains a lot of minor adjustments. Amongst them:
Various updates to the scenes.
Loads of new items.
Various troop upgrades, to make endgame harder for the player. As in, all troops should now be a bit harder for the player to kill - which should also lead to longer battles, and more needs for tactics.
I've feminized all the armors, so they now fit the female body as well. Female players rejoice.
Re-done some banners, added correct banners for companions.
Finally got around to fixing the sea battles.
Also fixed the tournaments, you always spawn with a weapon now.
Also added various more sea lanes and the ability to sail across the Rhoyne.
Re-did a lot of the music.
And a lot of other stuff. All of it obviously noted in the changelog for 1.1 - it should be out soon.
For something more substantial, you can now acquire the armor of Prince Aemond the One-Eyed through a quest. Those who have read The Princess and the Queen will know where to look.
Also added the Iron Throne to King's Landing.
And made a new system, by which lords will defect to the faction that captures certain towns/castles. Say Dragonstone captures King's Landing, the lords of the Crownlands will then defect from The Westerlands and join Stannis. Should make some locations more rewarding to capture, and emphasize their importance.
And a quick overview of future plans:
The Night's Watch.
New tournament rewards.
The Faith Militant.
That's all for now, don't forget to vote for A Clash of Kings for Mod of the Year:
