Red Eclipse is a free and open source game using SDL and OpenGL. It's a single-player and multi-player first-person ego-shooter, built as a total conversion of Cube Engine 2, which lends itself toward a balanced gameplay, completely at the control of map makers, while maintaining a general theme of agility in a variety of environments. The game consists of a variety of modes, which can be extended with any of twelve "mutators". For example, the "Capture the Flag" mode can be used in conjunction with the "Instagib" and "Jetpack" mutators, changing how the game is played. This allows players to experience more flexibility and variety when playing the same mode. There are also seven mode-exclusive mutators, which can only be played in certain modes. Please post all support issues in the forums for the game.

Red Eclipse v1.2 (Cosmic Edition) is out now. With it we have brought an amazing list of changes, additions, and bug fixes; many of which were inspired by community input and poll results. We'd like to thank everyone who played a part in making this our best release yet, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we did creating it.

Works out of the box, with perfect settings. Menu interface very clear and integrated, very pleasant gameplay, that becomes really exciting when one discovers the "agility". Balanced weapon system, beautiful graphics... I'm addicted.

Brilliant game!! soooo FUN!! Runs perfect on my system OpenSUSE 12.1, 200fps.

It can get slighty manic on-screen sometimes, but IMO that makes it more fun :D

Medievil CTF is epic!

The master server was down for a while, hence why the server list seemed empty (unless you had servers cached since before), it should be up and running now though.

Good game, but most of the servers seem to just play insta-gib jetpack mode, which is pretty boring.
