This is a GREAT idea, however...

Very VERY few games even attempt to accurately depict what happens to the physical casing that's around the aiming point.

And what is that?

The physical casing "disappears" by at least 50%, if not more. Because of how one aims with BOTH eyes open, the physical aspects of the scope/red dot/holo-sight "fade out" the further away from the focal point the physical features are.

There was a mod made for Operation Flashpoint that tried to duplicate this, Flash FXr as made by Thunderbird, but OF's limited engine just so badly stretched out the faded-out-at-the-edges 2-D sights/scopes, that it looked very VERY odd.

Don't get me wrong, what the author has achieved here should be emulated by every other STALKER mod out there, but what would be ideal is that when the 3-D scope gets centered to one's face, it is seamlessly replaced with a fantastically well made 2-D graphic of the blurred out/easy-to-see-through sights/scopes.

By the way, there's not a single video available that does a good job of reproducing what I'm struggling to describe here. The reason for that, is that the best that can be done is replicated with ONE camera recording the aiming down of a weapon, when what's needed is a STEREOSCOPIC recording, and as far as I know, that's not yet achievable.

No way jose, it can't be done in anomaly and especially not by me. This is like asking a carpenter to build an Eiffel tower with an hammer and pickaxe :))

Any way to change the keybind? As it is now it cycles between grenade launcher, scope and sight.

Reply Good karma Bad karma+2 votes

unfortunately not. It is hardcoded to the engine. I will make a feature request to the devs for 1.6 to make it seperate keybinds

Is it possible to make it remember the last setting on weapons with adjustable zoom levels (eg. Nimble's Vinteroz)? Currently, when you swap between iron sights and scope, it resets to the furthest zoom level on the scope.

Oh that's a vanilla bug. I'll see if there's anything I can do about it, but I cannot make any promises

Sounds good, thank you!

I found one other bug as well - if you're using the "High contrast sight" upgrade (and possibly the nightvision one too, but I haven't been able to test), the contrast filter stays on the screen if you switch to iron sight mode, until you stop aiming down sights.

Edit: I actually realized you can outright adjust the zoom level when in ironsight mode with the adjustable zoom scopes, lol.

I know you recently added an update for blindside, but I did notice some bugs with the L85A2 sights which are at a very low position, and the AUG rifles sights are too far away. I am notifying you because I love this mod.

Thanks for the update on L85A2, I pushed a hotfix rn to fix it.
As for the AUG, that's intentional, you just have to install adjustable scope view before this mod(link in the description) to bring them closer

Great update! Only thing is the lowered gun positions look a little off now (for the BaS guns), they take up too much space on screen. Is it possible to have those positions be lower? Also since the fire mode switch sounds were removed from BaS even if using the fire switcher sound mod any gun that has its own fire switch animation no longer plays a sound, I believe its specifically the Rifle Dynamics AK variants. Would it be possible to add those back in with a patch or the next update?

I will recheck the lowered weapon positions Fire switcher sound mod is not my addon, but I will inform the author about it

Is this compatible with Trader Overhaul, Separate Outfits, THAP and Anomaly Magazines Redux? Trader Overhaul, Separate Outfits and Mags Redux have their own BnS patches and I'm not sure if any of them conflict with yours? I'm using MO2.

Reply Good karma Bad karma0 votes

None of these should conflict. This is a reposition and fixes addon, which is nothing more than modified weapon config files. You can use it
It will only conflict with certain weapon mods and full upgrades mod(which is quite bad and I suggest to stay away from it)

there is a bug with the fire mode switch animations where if you are in ads, switch fire modes, then before the animation finishes you un-ads, the controls will lock up and you cant fire or reload.

this bug is present with both blindsides animations and BAS weapons with fire mode switch anims.

i dont know if its something you know how to fix, or if you would be able to get into contact with the authors in question for them to fix it but the bug can be rather detrimental to gameplay if your controls lock up mid fight.
I always end up editing out the anim line from the weapons config in order to prevent the bug.

ive tried in the past to bring this up with the MA of BAS but it doesent look like its been fixed yet.

This is not something I can fix, sounds like an engine issue. You can just not ADS before the mode switch anim is finished :)

spitsphire51151
spitsphire51151 - - 81 comments

going from hip fire to ads mid fire mode switch is fine, its doing the reverse that causes the bug.
maybe something wrong with the transition animation or something, idk.

letting you know about the bug so you can possibly comment out the anim switch line, perhaps as an optional for those who experience the bug.
simply add a ; before the "anm_switch_mode" line in the weapon configs.

Ok so about the AWAR patch thing, isnt it supposed to be after alteast Blindsides, since thats what the AWAR installation order describes? (no clue about BAS tbh) Or does it work like this aswell with JSRS - AWAR - Blindsides, Bas (with respective patches each)?

Reply Good karma Bad karma+3 votes
sneakydud Author
sneakydud - - 334 comments

JSRS-awar-blindsides-bas is the recommended order
Awar and blindsides only conflict with one gun, the L85 which is much much better in blindsides, so it's always better to overwrite awar with blindsides

Thanks for the reply, I did get it to run but with JSRS after bas and Awar last since BAS just wouldnt work wotg JSRS infront for some reason.

It is appreciated that you will also adapt the eft reposition and jsrs to the BaS, you are a great one. I just wanted to make a request, and is that some BaS rifles that originally have a secondary sight with laser light in this patch no longer have them (like the ak74u ISG tactic or the saiga ISG) could you put them back in the future? They feel great when you want to be tacticool.

Must be a mod order issue. I haven't touched weapon models, this is all just configs work.
Make sure BaS is upto date and follow the load order in the description

Bro, I'm testing and the truth is that there must be a conflict with your BaS patch, because just before putting the patch on I can use the lazer light as it aim sight, but just when putting your patch on, it no longer gives me the option.

The laser is not removed, the weapon is repositioned in such a way that the laser coincides with the weapon's red dot right. It's the most realistic option

Yes, but it works quite well in case you have an acog or a leupod and you want to shoot at a closer range, and it also works for some weapons that cannot change their sights, such as the aug a3 custom bas. But anyway it's fine, it was just a little detail that I wanted to highlight and nothing more, sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi! I am having the same issue! You cannot aim with the laser sights on certain weapons such as the Monolith AK-12 and the UNISG AK-74U.

Disabling this mod and the patches that come with it restores this laser aiming functionality.

Reply Good karma Bad karma0 votes
sneakydud Author
sneakydud - - 334 comments

Lol that's not how it works, the laser is just a texture baked to the weapon model
Nothing is removed, it's just the normal crosshair/red dot displaying over the laser dot coz they weren't aligned in BaS. Turn off crosshair and see
Also, laser is just for show, it has 0 effect on bullet trajectory

I'm planning on installing this addon but I don't have BaS nor I want to use it. That addon is required to make all of this fully functional or not?

Also, it it obligatory to install JSRS? I don't have it either

Hi!

I followed your steps *very* carefully and made my load order with EFT Repos, Blindsides, BAS, Adjustable Scope View, and this mod as you suggested. Nevertheless, I have encountered bugs which have been raised by other commenters before.

--> Monolith AK-12 being spawned causes CTD == Fixed by load order adjustment
--> Steyr Aug scope very far away == Band aid fix by the Adjustable Scope Mod
--> Aimable laser sights ala Call of Duty on some weapons have ceased to work. This was brought up by Rikney before and I still couldnt fix this no matter what shuffling of load order or reinstallation I did :'(
-->L85 rifles are invisible on the hand == Probably a load order issue but I honestly cannot solve this either.

My load order is how you prescribed sans AWAR, hence Im posting this comment in case you can provide some help!

Laser sights - I haven't touched weapon models at all, not all guns have lasers anyway. I repositioned the weapon so the crosshair and weapon red dot coincides with the laser dot turn off the crosshair in settings and see(or my personal favorite, turning alpha to max)
L85 - invisible weapon means missing hand anim, since it's the only weapon that awar and blindsides have in common, I'm very sure that's a load order issue
Cheers!

It's intended that the AK-74N can't use alt aim with the 1P29, right? I see it works with the PSO-1, but that scope blocks so much of the iron sight it makes the alt aim rather useless. (I've also got a nicer model for the 1P29 so I'd prefer to use that scope.) I tried editing the .ltx file and was able to get that gun to allow alt aim with the 1P29, but I don't know what offset values to use to try and get it lined up correctly.

Reply Good karma Bad karma0 votes
sneakydud Author
sneakydud - - 334 comments

Correct, most vanilla AK 1p29 variants takes up too much room and the alt sight becomes pointless
If you wanna do it anyway, open the weapon hud edior using debug mode with weapon equipped, you get instant preview so tweak the values till you find a balance. And save the values to the ltx, do not save directly from hud editor, it'll crash

Because the EFT reposition is no longer being updated with BlindSide's reanimations, do you think a patch for this using only BlindSide's and no reposition is possible?

This mod is like an update to original EFT reposition mod, Overwrite it with this and everything stays upto date. You can ignore the bas, awar, jsrs ones if you only want blindsides

The alternate sight mode for the guns that have lasers that is part of BaS doesnt seem to work for me when i have this installed. Is this just a necessary sacrifice or is something not working as intended on my end?
All guns are affected by the reposition as far as i can tell.

Lasers are part of weapon model, I haven't touched them, it's just configs work
I just made sure the laser point is perfectly aligned with the actual crosshair/red dots, the laser isn't gone it's just behind the red dot,I did it on purpose, you can only fire at one point so what's the point

I think he means the under-barrel grenade function with some BaS guns, the character will tilt the weapon 45 degrees enabling the use of the laser as the main sight, instead of the irons/red dot

Maybe, I removed it coz it was so stupid. Why would anyone fire with their gun tilted unless they have a canted sight? You can just hipfire

Much like you're new alt. pistol positions, it's a cool fun aesthetic, I'm sure many others like DrKongo and I would love to see these re-included, or maybe even just another included patch file.

P.s playing with the mod and its great, everything works together very well and with great installation guide.

Except the pistols alt aims were aimed for a scenario of firing over a crouched area when under cover. Tarkov does this, it would've worked in anomaly if not for an engine bug in g_firepos
