Star Wars: Interregnum is an upcoming mod for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion that builds off of the highly successful Enhanced 4X Mod. Fleeing the unknown terror that is chasing the Vasari, the factions of Sins of a Solar Empire stumble on a temporary wormhole that takes them to a galaxy far, far away. The sudden arrival of armadas with trillions of refugees and thousands of warships between the events of Episodes 5 & 6 forever alters the Star Wars universe and plunges the galaxy into an unprecedented period of chaos and violence. While it had been several eras since the Hutts were a leading military power, to say that the Hutt Cartel did not have the means or resources to produce their own warships is a gross exaggeration. While quite happy to purchase and operate ships built in the rest of the galaxy, several more military minded wealthy Hutts delighted in building custom warships to their own peculiar specifications. Perhaps the most powerful of these were the Chelandion class Assault Cruisers.
These 800 meter long warships were used in the Second Galactic Civil Wars in Legends canon, but little hard data is known about them other than their length and appearance (and now that Legends is frozen, it's unlikely we'll get more elaboration). No indication is given about when they were produced, but since Hutts like to get the most out of their investments its quite possible they date back to the original Galactic Civil War period. That is what this mod assumes in the lore below.

While the Hutt Navy was already beginning a period of rearmament before the battle of Endor, the chaos in the galaxy in the aftermath of the Interregnum greatly accelerated these plans. Somewhat "inspired" on the nearby Bothans own Assault Cruiser design, the Hutt Chelandion Assault cruiser was the most powerful capitalship widely produced for the Hutt Navy. While the ship's shields and hypermatter reactor was not quite up to par with other contemporary first rate warships, the weapon systems and armor of these vessels was quite competitive.
Following the Vasari annexation of Hutt Space, a number of these vessels were destroyed defending Nal Hutta. Surviving vessels owned by Hutts imprisoned by the Vasari were forced to lend their ships to fight in their captors wars. Hutts lucky enough to escape evacuated their ships to Hutt dominated worlds outside their normal territory, such as Tatooine.

I was hoping the Hutts would get their own ships, out of all the minor factions on this list they have earned it, aside from maybe CSA and Hapans.
