Heretic was the first game to use the Doom engine outside of id. Produced by John Romero in cooperation of Raven Software, Heretic promises to be a great fantasy blastfest in a package! Fight off Gargoyles, Golems, Wraiths and Weredragons with your Dragonclaw, Phoenix rod, Hellstaff and Firemace! This game also introduces a new item system that's become a general must for most games, using with the familiar bracket keys. Items include Wings of Wrath, Polymorph Egg, Chaos Device, Disc of Repulsion, and everyone's favorite Tome of Power, that supercharges your weapons!
Yes my friends, the hour is here! Wrath of Magic development has officially been resumed. It has been over a year that it's been dusting on the digital shelves, when i stopped the progress between E2M5 and E2M6 in favor of Hexen-based projects. The Hexen road is almost at an end, and my Heretic-based grand project finally has the space to rise up. While the finalization of the Cleric mod / Marine Mod for Hexen and their optimization for Legend 8.33 is still going on - and thus not allowing full speed development, but things are definitely going forward, and i have already moved on to E2M7. Some new screenshots to boast the new glory :-) As i have examined, a good amount of testing will be necessary, in order to maximize the gameplay potential - as i did with Hexen. But that is quite far for now, as i am just about two-thirds of the game in, levels only. Some things are still quite chaotic, as WOM:FW was conceived using rather primitive means, - and the vanilla design offers pretty much nothing - which means basically building everything from scratch and go texture-by-texture afterwards.
The mod will be released when all 3 episodes are completed and tested, not any earlier. No demos. As for the episode 4 and 5 - too soon to think about those. I cannot give an ETA yet, cause the mod has been on ice way too long, and some things there are in a rather raw and untested stage, - or use inferior modding techniques. Very roughly, to at least partial satisfaction of your curiosity - i will name late summer 2019. Maybe earlier, and maybe later. One thing in certain: the game is afoot!!!
