Focus on melee combat (nerf range, boost melee dmg, alter monster dmg/behavior, add blocking (stun monsters), shield deflect projectiles, push backs).

this update add lots of dynamic lights (sorry guys with potato pc). Its design to play with darkmodz (included inside zip file). So its dark everywhere...
improve running (when press shift) sword has areal attack mace, hammer, staff has autoaim for melee attack. add music collection of Yuki Mikazuki add...

This mod looks great, but sadly when I drop the pk3 file in GZDoom it gives me an error:
"R_InstallSprite: Sprite MNTR frame A is missing rotations"
MNTR A are maulotaur sprites from vanilla heretic. I just thought that you maybe was trying to launch the mod without the heretic wad game?
You should use ZDL3.11, setup path to gzdoom and heretic.wad
and then put .pk3.
wen you go to the next level you loose your weapons? or am i doing something wrong?
yes, all doom (heretic) levels are design for pistol start.
its much better to play this way. The joy of finding weapons occur multiple times. You are not overpowered for level challange.
i add options to turn off wand start in menu, if you dont like it.
Can you add some support companions?like orkes or fairies or witch.It would be cool.
i do not have assets for them. But most important, i do not have a will to do it.
you can find rats (sometimes) in barrels as an ally.
Well your mode is great,i hope you work on some improvement.I mean its the only mode for Heretic i found worth playing,this and HeXeReTiC Fantasy.Seriously there are no modes for heretic out there.But Doom 2 has thousands of modes.
i make a new version on forum zdoom. some time ago (11 sept 2021). But there is not too much new feature (the new blocking animation with wand is maybe the biggest novelty).
with Bitter I more or less achieve what i want. There are stuff i wish i could add, but its a lots of work (or learining how to do it).
do you have some of your ideas how to improve Bitter Heretic? Something you wish were added?
you mention allies, but with allies problem is:
-bitter just change gameplay, it doesnt change maps (how would you add companion, as a item that you pick up and use? like Maulotaur summon in Hexen? even if i would need to replace some existing item on map for that)
-i dont have resource for allies (sprites), this is the biggest chunk of work to do really
-i have no clue how to make working ally AI - unless the rats level of AI is sufficient in your opinion.
sorry,I dont have any idea about mod making.If you dont know how to implement ally AI,then i guess there is not much to do here.Its a cool mode regardless.
Love this mod. Been on my vacation for the last few days, giving Heretic a complete run through with Bitter coupled with Corruption Cards. It's Excellent.
