TF2 achievements and that's it
ill aim for em but a lot of the time im not determined enough
I hear that. If it weren't for the new weapons, I really wouldn't care. And even then, I only do it for the classes I play.
Although Garry's mod has some fair cool achievements :3
If I really love a game, achievements are an amusing thing to work towards, but if I don't care much for the game I couldn't care less about achievements.
i care mostly about the game but if i can earn some easily or i like to have them i fight for em!
Newgrounds.com
Gold, i just spent the last 15 mins playing that. :D
Well played Jyffeh.
Well not desperately. I like getting them, but I don't really go out of my way to get them unless i'm bored.
I just play the game, it's more entertaining.
It's nice to get some achievements, but I'll never play a game over and over again for just a "finish the game 10 times" achievement. (For example xD)
well hard to say... i dont care about my amount of frags and i dont like to compare myself with other players, but im certainly trying to be successful.
Achievements for me is boost for fun in game.
But it's to bad some just Farm to get them, whats fun in that?
I'll do anything for them :D unless theyre hard and time consuming :P
So.. basically.. you won't do anything for them? xD
Unless it's a Start up the game for the first time achievement. I see a bunch of those.
Only after I've finished a first play-through, or they're used to unlock something in game. More often than not, I don't worry about them.
*prepare for rant*
Sorry but this is one of my rant topics ;)
When I was young and the Xbox first came out with the idea of 'achievements', I remember hearing about it and thinking "wow thats a cool idea, you can see that your friend beat a certain level on super hard and then ask for help."
Then when it came time for 'achievements' to be implemented, it turned into a pathetic, ego stroking useless system. Ohhh I just killed 10 guys with a SHOTGUN! Even worse, is the fact that people now try to get as many achievements as possible just to raise some arbitrary score to make them feel like they are a better gamer or something. I actually see people rent/buy games that are easy to get all the achievements for instead of playing a game because its ya know... fun!?
Being a strong PC gamer, I always realized that console games were lacking in gameplay stats that PC games like BF had. So when I first heard about 'achievements', I thought it would be a good step towards more gameplay stats. However, achievements turned into these static, useless milestones for a certain weapon. In my mind I could tell that the game was 'tracking' how many kills I got with a certain weapon. However for some reason the devs would only tell me when I got 20 kills with the sniper rifle. So they track your gameplay but then don't display any of it except for the stupid kill x with y achievements. Some achievements are getting better but most are useless.
I know I am crazy but watching gamers struggle to get a high gamerscore because they think it proves their gaming prowess is humorous. Especially when the achievements are as useless as the self derived pride you get from 'achieveing' one. I just play games and have fun.... thats it :)
/rant
sorry, long day at work ;)
I'll do anything
I like getting them usually, but I am against the achievements that are like "Kill 11,111 enemies" or "Play <game name here> for 1000 hours" etc.
I like to get them, but I really don't care if I don't get them.
I get achievements all time, usually after 1st playthrough. But I never try to get the hardcore gamer achievements like in left 4 dead zombie genosidist "Kill 53,333" zombies -.- or Halo 3 vidmaster Annual -.-'
Some achievements require alot of work, so I like to get them but not every single one.
*Choice Number 3*
I Don't Really Care, I Just A Game.
Should be it's just a game.
I like em, but I don't go hunting for em.
some achievements really are that. Some achievements like getting a 5:1 kill ratio in COD4 multiplayer require an amount of skill that make you feel godlike when you get them, and others like finding all COG tags in Gears of War make you feel like you are a more observant individual than you normally are. Sure some of the achievements are stupid or just insanely hard/time consuming, but the ones that aren't are nice to get every once in a while. It's like someone walking up to you and saying "you did something cool, here's a cookie\".
I rather like the idea of the hidden achievements. You don't know what they are, or the requirements of which, so you can't go out of your way to get them, but when you do, it's nice to see something that (in some cases) makes a comment about your play style. For instance, if a racing game has an achievement for getting all of a particular set of cars, such as Tuners, Exotics, Race cars, Coupes, Mid-Engine. What achievement you get would reflect the types of cars you perfer driving.
I like to get them. I got a lot of fun when I tried to make all achs in HL2EP2, Portal. Right now I am trying to get most of TF2 ones.
Achievements suck... it makes it competitive gaming, which isnt fun at all... like these dudes that play competitively for a living, they rock at one game and one game only, and thats not even fun for them, they have bitchfits when they lose, some even cry... Now, achivements is pointing all gamers in the same direction, its like a standard to show whose beter at a game and who sux balls, the fun is in the bragging rights =\ i just play for the fun of it with no other agenda except enjoying it... so yeah, thats my opinion
I like achievements, but having fun is most important thing.
i never achieved anything in my life O.o
I'll admit I'm an acheivement freak, especially in TF 2. I was actually disappointed and a little mad when they started the random pickup thing. But making them too serious is retarded. Its a game after all.
I would sell my soul for achievements!
i haven't really jumped on the achievement band-wagon, mostly cause i dont really think how high my gamer score is in comparison to how good i am at the games i have those achievements for. like halo 3, you could have ALL of the damn achievements for it and i may still kick your *** in it, it doesnt make you better..
I only care if they provide some in-game benefits (Mass Effect) or some nice extra (Witcher)
I kind of don't like achievements. If TF2 didn't have achievements, i would be playing. But since it does have them, now i have to demote myself to actually FARMING for them. I know, i don't HAVE to get them, but since their there, it feels like the developers would say "why the hell arn't you trying to get achievements noob?" if i didn't.
Number 2, occasionally I'll shoot for them but for the most part I'll enjoy the game as much as possible.
...
I like to get them but I dont play for them... lol
I launched the gnome.
The games have more challange with them... i don't have TF2 (because my pc runs slow with that game :P) but i have HL2 EP2 that runs on my Geforce FX5200, 512mb Ram and i still trying to launch the gnome.. LOL
I only get achievements if you get something out of them. Like Team Fortress 2.
Achievements are fun, and they give you a challenge to try and get them. But i sure as hell dont play to receive them.
Achievements are nice.
I don't really mind achievements, as long as I'm having fun playing games. But when I do complete achievements out of nowhere, i just go "oh.. that was an achievement?.. did not know that" Though, I only care about achievements if they unlock content.
Sniper Achievement:
Kill Everyone You Meet- Kill 1000 enemies
was proud when I got that one
Quake live!!
When asked this question. I'm reminded of the Sprite commercial.
"Thirst I won!"
Cool, what prize you win?
*stares shocked*
Well if you won, you must get a prize right?
"Well no."
Congratulations on your no prize, didn't win nothing victory.
"Oh man, come o-"
Interrupted by Other Guy: Hey I won a game rental at blockbuster!
Looks like your playing the wrong game brother.
Your still a winner to me.
"Really?"
No.
So I think of achievements sorta like that, what'd I get besides a statement saying I achieved something, where's my prize? Besides acknowledgment, what else is there? A good question worth digging into another time. It'd be nice if there was more reason to achieve them.
COD4 has the unlock system, 2142 has the unlock system TF2? Well there's the milestones, Left 4 Dead? You just get to hear an achievement unlock and a emblem pop up (so far). For console gaming, you get more for your buck, you get achievements and a gamer score for 360.

I like to get the achievement but i dont really care that much sometimes if i am at a spot where i can get it i try a few times
I like to get achievements only when you have to do something really complicated for that.
Acheivements aren't the piont of the game, but if you can get credit for what your doing, then I'll always take it!
For me, achievements show fun stuff and progress of the things that i've done. And i just think it's funny to see what i've done in the past, or how long i've played the game, or played a class or something. I'm not playing BECAUSE of them.
