The time has come once again for the annual MOTY awards. Coincidentially, TNM is a mod which was released this year! After 7 years in development, we're extremely excited to finally have the opportunity to compete in the category of released single player modifications.

There's also the editor's choice which the is the ModDB staff picking out stuff(which is the best part of MOTY imo :))
Yeah but it feels a bit arrogant, to me.
I can understand projects making newsposts during this period especially to get some extra votes (I've done it too). But actually asking for it in the newpost and making it the newspost title is just not done imo (it's even in the thumbnail image!), those projects never get my vote.

Jealous of the work that went into it, the humor, ideas, voice acting, animation (ok maybe not the animation LOL). And that its a mod thats
been in the making for 7 years, 2 months, and 11 days from conception to release... and that its had a core team of 1 producer, 1 lead designer, 1 dialogue manager, 2 programmers, 5 level designers, 1 3D artist, 4 2D artists, 1 sound designer, and 3 composers, with the additional contributors: 4 programmers, 6 level designers, 6 2D artists, 4 writers, 6 sound designers, 5 composers, 23 testers, and 74 voice actors.
They deserve it... and plus its Melkmas a time of joy my friend :D

I disagree completely, some times it's these extra news posts that get people to finally try out the mods and really see how great they are.

If you've played the mod you don't need the promo to get you to vote for it. As NullSoldier mentions, it does bring it to the attention of those who haven't tried it yet.
I have nothing against extra newsposts, hell I agree with the fact that it might be handy to make a newpost right now during the MOTY awards, but making it the topic of the news is just not done imo. Imagine every project on this website starting a newspost just to ask for a votes.
If your mod is good and the news about your mod is good, people will vote anyway without having to ask for it.
If you just make a newspost to be able to ask for votes, something is wrong! But thats just me being jealous, right?! ;)
Hey, you are definitely entitled to your opinion. Personally I can't see the harm in it, and they can't force anybody to vote for them. I have three emails from three other mods asking me to vote for them and that's okay by me as well.
A fair point, Betelgeuze. However, it's rather like a political campaign. If you want to win, it's a rather poor strategy to simply kick back and hope people realize they want to vote for you. And of course, I just loved making these videos :-)
Well thats what I've done for Infinity for 4 years now, I've never asked for votes on moddb, yet Infinity won a couple of MOTY awards. ;)
Infinity is a fantastic looking game that scores a lot of points with people for, well, looking fantastic. Deus Ex, on the other hand, looks like precisely what it is, a very old game that would never get any votes based on visual delight.
In any case, we have a general and oft admitted love for PR (which we consider good practice for our next commercial venture), so it's just a lot of good fun for us!
Time for voting. Let's see if we can eventually bring justice to MOTY by actually having a worthy mod winning instead of PR-drama. Go TNM, Go! :D
