Dawn of the Tiberium Age (DTA) is a stand-alone mod that combines Tiberian Dawn (C&C 95) and Red Alert. While classic mode gets as close to the original game-play and balance as possible, Enhanced mode provides improved game balance and a lot of fun new stuff. DTA features many customization options for Skirmish and multiplayer (where you can play as GDI, Nod, Allies and Soviet on over 200 maps), challenging original singleplayer missions, as well as co-op missions. Since this is a stand-alone mod, you don't require anything but the mod itself to be able to play: the original game is not required.

I don't mind how it is set up. I mean lore-wise it feels a tad wrong, but game-wise I am fine with it.

How is it wrong lore-wise? Gems don't mysterically disappear just because there's tiberium in the world.

(Our mix of TD and RA factions is wrong lose-wise though, but I personally think it makes multiplayer epic.)

I think he means that gems shouldnt give more credits than blue tib.
I loved Gems in RA1 and 2, I would be lying if I said I didnt miss them in the mod. Glad they are here now.

The reason why gems are more expensive is that they're less common. We have blue tiberium trees, but gems don't grow or spread at all.

As you'd expect, green tiberium is still Riparius, while blue tiberium is still Vinifera.

The scrap metal and ore are both Aboreus; Ore uses the first 12 regular patches of it, wile scrap metal uses the last 8 ones that are normally reserved for slopes (DTA doesn't have slopes after all).
Scrap metal that has been pre-placed on a map would spread ore, which is why scrap metal and ore don't spread at all by default (so meaning that ore purely relies on ore mines to spread). Ore can be enabled to spread via a tool script that I made for the map editor, but this should only be done for maps that don't have any pre-placed scrap metal on them (scrap metal that's spawned by destroyed vehicles and structures will never spread anyhow).

The gems are Cruentus. Because of this infantry are unable to walk on it, but other than that there are no side-effects.
