Dawn of the Tiberium Age (DTA) is a stand-alone mod that combines Tiberian Dawn (C&C 95) and Red Alert. While classic mode gets as close to the original game-play and balance as possible, Enhanced mode provides improved game balance and a lot of fun new stuff. DTA features many customization options for Skirmish and multiplayer (where you can play as GDI, Nod, Allies and Soviet on over 200 maps), challenging original singleplayer missions, as well as co-op missions. Since this is a stand-alone mod, you don't require anything but the mod itself to be able to play: the original game is not required.
A new 2-player map made by ChronoSeth. Like all the maps I've posted images of so far, it's included in the latest update for DTA (version 1.11006).
Nice map, reminds me of the first two GDI missions.
Here is a perhaps strange question though, something I've always wondered. What is that building in the middle? A civilian construction yard?
It's named "Arcology", although I'm not really sure what it is myself either :P
Also yeah, ChronoSeth did say he based that map on the first TD GDI mission.
Sanakirja.org (a Finnish online dictionary) about "arcology": "An extremely large habitat or settlement, sufficient to maintain an internal ecology as well as an extremely high human population density."
The map looks good, but I don't understand why the right half even exists? You can't reach it as it's entirely blocked by the cliffline.
It's there so you don't get annoying graphical and camera-jumping bugs (making the game very challenging to play) if you're using a larger resolution. Since most gamers are using 1920x1080 nowadays, we decided to make all of our maps large enough to fit entirely to at least that resolution.
If your resolution is larger than the visible map area in TS, your camera starts jumping back and forth with the map's borders when you try to scroll.
I see, thanks for clarifying that.
In this case, the cliff can also provide a strategic advantage to someone who hides units/buildings up there using helicopters/carryalls. Making it accessible by normal means would just make the map more complex than is necessary, and it would be very ugly filled with impassable terrain.
