Hi all,

Somehow I've done something to piss off Nimble as he won't talk to me any more.

I've been killing Duty, Freedom and Stalkers in Zaton but been getting away with it by killing the whole squad (no remaining hostiles).

Now Nimble won't let me buy off him as he won't interact - how does one reset the faction relations to make him friendly again?

P.S - It would be good if there was an option to approach Owl to 'pay off' a faction that gets hostile to you in a game breaking way.

Actions have consequences. Start over and make better choices ...

You should always check the affiliation of the corpses post battle and make sure you haven't killed friendlies. If you have reload and don't kill friendlies. Don't ever kill stalkers except as required by storyline. You're supposed to be a covert operative. Killing everyone you see isn't how it works. If you really have that hard a time telling friends from foes by their dress, weapons, etc. then enable IFF in the HUD so you have a little colored dot telling you not to just kill everyone and expect to be treated as a friend.

Question being though - is there a way?

Yeah you can enable your IFF dot in the option.

Reading the title I thought someone is tweaking the mutant relations like Jasper and I did. The performance is improved quite a bit when mutants stop chasing each other. Now in my game all the mutants are neutral to each other, but also making traveling to certain area of the map impossible due to the density of mutant population.

I didn't notice dramatic increase myself, but I admit I didn't play long with them totally neutral. It definitely doesn't seem overpopulated with basically 2 enemies each on my version. D_money means is it possible to fix playing recklessly and killing everything in sight vs. carefully Choosing who you alienate. There may be a way but if you are unwilling to change your play style you're playing the wrong mod. Leave the map for a few game days they might forget how much of a sociopath you were.

Yeah I know but there's something to be said for performing a clean hit with no witnesses leading to no faction relations movement. That seems realistic to me and it has been working. The only thing that must have happened is that there's an extra member of the squad who's got stuck somewhere half a map away and is hostile who then spreads his hostility to further members of the faction. I've noticed some squaddies can get stuck in the harvest mutant anim which could explain it.

I'm not going psycho and killing everyone but picking off isolated squads in an opportunist fashion. While you've made it very known you don't approve of my play style I'm trying to save hours/days of game play.

If you do look at all the advice in-game - they say mercy and helping others is for the weak. I think it fits Misery fairly well to pick off weaker Stalkers for loot if you can get away with it. I think I'm just falling victim to not being able to kill the whole squad because some squad member is stuck looting a mutant somewhere and won't move.

They have radios and PDA's ... when you attack a faction everyone in that faction nearby knows instantly, not just that squad. You need to simply identify stalker squads and leave them be if you don't want traders to blow you off. You can kill 5 of 6 factions with little or no downside other than them beginning to hunt you. There are ways to kill without getting "credit" positive or negative for it. Mines, grenades, and explosives are pretty much OK if they don't actually see you throw it. You need to kill all subject targets with first shot. If you want to test your theory about one member of squad being absent, it can be verified with debug tools, but I doubt that is often the case. If any member of the squad becomes alerted to your attack, assume everyone on the map in that faction has been informed. They will become alerted even if they just see a body of their faction dead. Everyone plays different, no judgement here. The payoff for hunting stronger NPC's is much better than weaker ones :D

Do it the easy way man, always scout your area before taking a step it, one step could mean life and death for either you or a fellow stalker, here is how I deal with most encounters, I always keep my head low but my awareness up, a scoped weapon or binoculars are the best tools, whenever you spot a camp in the horizon you stop moving and stick to the nearest object, be it a rock, a tree, or a wall, crouch and identify the campers, stalkers are usually cool looking :p if they are a group of stalkers a badge on their shoulder should be visible to you, but this only if you are using high settings, I'm not, so I always stay away and approach quietly, once I'm sure who are they I decide what to do next, stalkers are your friends, so no shooting allowed, bandits are your most nemesis, never hesitate taking them down, if you don't they will take you, or worst, they may ambush a group of stalkers, bandits are very easy to identify, they are usually loling outloud like the zone is theirs, most of the time I get them from distance just by listening to their chitchat, that hilarious laughter they make is priceless though :D

Haha agreed. Not to be honest my play style as been very amoral and opportunist.

My hits have been fast and quiet. They're all usually dead before they can retaliate. I've been doing it for all factions through my whole play through and honestly it's not affected them at all. I find the key is to ensure no other squads can see you, you take the whole squad out and fast and it seems to have zero relations impact.

The only time I've been screwed and the faction has hated me is when I've found that I missed one and he's spread his word about me.

Correct me if I'm wrong but this is how it's gone so far. Just one off incidents when anyone hates me outside of 'the hit' (not the mission).

A word can get you killed m8 :p never leave witnesses if you know what I mean :3 always count the squad members before and after the encounter.
