What is SMRI?
Sid Meier’s Railroads!: Intercontinental (here in known as SMRI) has everything you could ask for: Tanks, missiles, cars, money and lots of it, speeds reaching 200 miles per hour, Military bases, horses, cows, cheese, and elfs! As well as train loads of other new goods to transport over twenty new maps. How long would it take you to play all this? Well we estimate that if you only played each map once it take you well over 21 hours, are these action packed hours? No not really, more like relaxingly addictive hours in which you forget to check the clock and realize you have to get to work, an hour ago. So in the end if you already own a copy of SMR it would be a crime to not install this mod, if you don't own SMR. Well go out and buy a copy, Steam sells it cheap.
SMRI 1.01
Sid Meier’s Railroads!: Intercontinental is now finished as of release 1.01. If you have already downloaded 1.0 pick up the 1.0-1.01 patch other wise head to our website for the full 1.01 installer.
SMRI 2?
Plans are in the works for a second version of SMRI. We intend for it to be independent from 1.01, in other words 2 will not be an updated version of 1 and will instead contain it's own maps.
Very important note
SMRI will not run if you have the Holiday map from Fraxis installed using the installer from their site. So please delete it before installing SMRI. Don't worry about not havingit since we've included it in here with a reworked XML allowing it to run along side SMRI.

Even though I said in the last news post that I was leaving the community, or at least formally saying goodbye that did not actually happen. What did happen was I started working on the spiritual successor to SMRI. My intention for SMRI was to have every map included, this did not turn out to be possible and at the time SMRI was scaled down. The idea being that there would be a SMRI 2 with more maps, as you can guess this never happened. Since I do not have the programing knowledge needed to make, well, anything my new project is unfortuatly not a "true" succesor to SMRI. Instead I know web design, so to make a long story short if you are interested in playing the custom maps not included in SMRI then I invite you to head over to www.smrsimple.com. My goal for the site was to make it easy and accesible to new players interested in playing custom maps. I think I have done quite well in that regard and hope that others will find it usful. Now I bid aduo, I will likely be moving on, this time I really mean it, again.

Well there now I've said me piece and I can sleep well knowing that I have closed the loose ends. I also made a bit longer post here if anybody is interested in a brief history of the mod: Blog.warll.com
something strange is in this mod...some maps simple have trouble, water in the middle of first station etc...
And where or how I can get this mod?
Very Nice music in this video...I like Glenn Miller.
Just downloaded SMRI but it still crashes during gameplay. I did find something funny the second locomotive that come available to you has square wheels....LOL i downloaded the 1.o1 version do i still have to download the patch file?
Thats Because its Outdated these days. There are new style maps being made now which are much easier to use. Try that site -> eric.bkbobby.com
I would really like to have seen this mod... I downloaded it but no go. Wouldn't install for me. Drat! I was looking forward to it too.
The installer for this can't handle the Stardock / Impulse download version of SMR. The issue is that the installer and the XML data used to describe where to put the mod files is hard-coded, and that is not good. For example, if your user data directory name isn't the supposed default of ..\My Games\Sid Meier's Railroads!\ then the installation fails. The dialog where you can theoretically pick the destination folder still forces the folder name "Sid Meier's Railroads!", so for the default install from Stardock/Impulse, this breaks, because the default user data folder is just named "Railroads", as in:
[drive]\..\Documents and Settings\[username]\My Documents\My Games\Railroads
This would be one of my favorite mods, if it wasn't so crashtacular. Most of the crashing is due the game itself being glitchy and buggy, but i can never seem to really get this mod running correctly. I hope that a future update will make this mod more playable because it is quite enjoyable for us railroad/train fans.
Do you use Vista
Try to give this guide a look
moddb.com -> forum -> Tech Support -> This will solve a big part of the problem in vista, SMR and SMRI
Hey I just downloaded the SMRI 1.0 then installed it and how do I use it couse I can't fiind the maps in the single player scenario setup...
