Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.

Currently it's just a general's power unit.

It drops the conscripts for the 'conscript drop' generals power. In the current dev, it also drops the Tanks at the reinforcements pad, but that may change. It might function for other general's powers later on in development, but nothing else at the moment.

Is it bigger than the Helix?

Actually, I'm not quite sure, as I can't compare it with the helix directly. I would say that the Halo is longer but the old Heix is fatter. Though the new SW helix might be smaller than this.

I dunno, I can't really give you a good answer, but I'd say slightly bigger.

No guns? In real life these things should be big enough to carry nukes.

In real life, they've never carried any weapons at all save locked up inside the cargo hold. They're a transport helicopter, not an attack helicopter; that's what a Hind, Havoc or Hokum is for.

Does this transports many than Helix?! It also transport tank?

It's a general's powers plane, it does the conscript drop and drops the tanks for the reinforcements pad. It's not buildable at the moment. (The hind fills the transport chopper role at the moment.

just a question.. what is the average polygon rate for C&C Generals ?

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote
CommanderJRB
CommanderJRB - - 754 comments

As I understand it - and I may well be wrong - around three hundred for normal units, but as this is a Generals Power aircraft of which only one will be usually on the screen at any given time it can afford to be a bit looser (I've no idea of the actual count, but I suspect it would be larger than that just by eyeballing it).

looks liek the helix, mainly heavy lift helix, now has some competition, but as this thing is unarmed it's clearly no competiton.

Wouldn't the An-225 also be good for a generals power transport?(Although, it's a massive plane and would take alot of work that could be best spent doing other things)

The fact that the Il-76 is already in the mod makes the Mriya redundant, as the former is the actual airdrop plane used by the military and in service in vastly greater numbers than Antonov's superlative monster (of which there are currently exactly one, albeit with a second one in painfully slow construction). The An-225 is cool but it's not really a military craft, being designed to carry outsize cargo (originally the Soviet Buran space shuttle) rather than VDV troops.

Are there plans to add the Ka-60? (although the Mi-24 Hind already has the troop-carrying ability) I'm still wondering what's the NATO codename for the former...

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote
CommanderJRB
CommanderJRB - - 754 comments

No, the Ka-60 is not planned for addition as the Hind makes it redundant for Orlov and there's no space for it on the other Russian sides. It's sad, because it's a beautiful machine, but only so many units can be fitted into a mod.

How about the codename? Is NATO haven't given the Ka-60 its H-word name aside from Kasatka?

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote
CommanderJRB
CommanderJRB - - 754 comments

As far as I know either NATO has no codename for the Ka-60 or it is simply not known widely yet. Certainly I've only heard it called 'Orca', and using the correct Russian names for Russian equipment is slowly becoming more common (where such names exist, anyway).

Description

The Russian Halo is the biggest and most powerful helicopter ever to have gone into production. This heavy lift aircraft has served Russia for over three decades so well that the Federation doesn’t seem concerned in replacing it. It is capable of transporting a large number of infantry and is capable of airlifting even some tanks. This mostly recent variant dubbed as MI-26P by the remnants of NATO has a myriad of improvements including a new powerplant increasing overall performance.
The Halo not only stands in a class of its own but is also reliable and is capable of outperforming its lesser western counterparts. Exports for either military or civilian use are sold very selectively to the world and the secondary users of the Halo are only the New South American Union and some nations of the African Union.
