Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.
Illegal weapon suppliers are still among the most important contacts of even the smallest GLA cell leader. These structures also include such things as a basic machine shop and foundry.
dang these are awesome! so will you be able to use all of the GLA base buildings as tunnels? or is it just for looks?
They are all tunnels, there's an extra button that lets you toggle to the tunnel menu, which allows you to order units out of the tunnel network.
This just simplifies things, as you no longer have to build a tunnel network entrance in your base, you only need to build them on your defensive line and whatever other place you want units to spill out of.
is the amount of units you can keep in a tunnel increased since vinila
I don't mind them being tunnels but must every GLA buildings use the exact same sneak attack tunnel? This one is fitting for a GLA war factory but not the others..
You'll be grateful to have the holes up on your production buildings(instantly have accessible holes ANYWHERE in case of attack/superweapons/or move units around) and the supply stash (in case you get rushed and don't want workers to get run over.
The benefits are endless really, both for PVP and AI games. It's almost TOO good.
I think he means it would be nice to have different style holes like maybe a dirt cave-like one one for the barracks, maybe a tent reaching into the ground for the supply stash, etc. Just the appearance of the holes being different...
Exactly. I like the idea, the only thing I'm not liking is the appearance of the tunnels and that all 4 buildings had the same tunnel as the sneak attack tunnel.
i agree
I like it !
Loving the Technical parked there.
The way the GLA buildings are looking is interesting. A few questions though:
1. Are the buildings going to have some ability to connect with the tunnel networks? If so, may I see a demonstration?
2. What is in place of some of the other structures such as the singer Sites, Black Market, and the Palace.
There is no need for a demonstration, they work just like tunnels.
Other structures will remain the same while some will be completely different.
i dont like this HOLE style
Smells like forced pun to me. :P
Anyway looks cool!
So the GLA will the a underground faction :), actually fits pretty good in :P!
While I understand the rationale of every structure being based around the tunnel, it doesn't change the fact that the structures look awfully similar. It's very visible that they are all using the exact same tunnel model.
You could change the core tunnel model for every structure (e.g. make the WarFac tunnel a fortified structure, the barracks akin to the regular tunnel network) or create multiple models using the Technical logic.
On a sidenote, the tunnel entry would look a lot better if the inside walls, specifically the back wall, would fade to black towards the bottom.
Agree!
It is not based around the tunnel it technically IS the tunnel. It wouldn't make sense for the GLA to build different exits based on the structure that's gonna be built around it.
Well, they did bring in additional bulk for every structure so why not fortify the tunnel a bit? The arms dealer (this one) actually does it a bit by covering the entrance but in all other instances the tunnel is completely unshielded.
There's no need to fortify it a bit, these structures are also a bit cheaper and nimble than the original variations.
It's very interesting concept to combine production building with tunnel entrance. It would be nice to have a production structure behind enemy lines without another tunnel network structure for reinforcement.
I just hope that these buildings are easily distinguishable from one another on the actual battlefield.
Is anyone even paying frekin attention to what the team says in this comments? Seriously. The reason they all use the same damn tunnel model is because the sneak attack tunnel will be able to turn into any of this buildings. And that is 1 frekin tunnel design. If this buildings used different looking tunnel designs they wouldnt look like they came from the same tunnel. It's called logical continuity and it's part of cummon sense.
"cummon sense"
tehehehe...I guess its the part of sense that is *puts on sunglasses* right in your face YEEEAAAH
It's 6 in the morning over here in the UK at the moment I'm getting ready for college but first I come to have another browse at the new models but instead come across your comment.... Thankyou sir my day = made :L!!!
Do you even pay frekin attention to what people are saying? No logical rationale is going to change the fact that the structures are looking awfully similar.
Seeing the team's awesome work with other models (as well as the doodads for these), they should well be capable of varying the base look of the tunnel for each structure.
Which would ruin continuity over the sneak attack tunnel design. There are things were diversity is cool and things when diversity simply makes no sense. The tunnel design is 1, and structures that come from it would look odd to say the least if they had different tunnel designs, and then alot of people would bitch about how that makes no sense.
There's no need to make the tunnel entirely dissimilar. The structures around the tunnel too are a modification to the base appearance, the tunnel itself could be modified in a similar vein by adding or removing parts of it - for example by keeping the gateway but giving the dirt around it more bulk for the barracks.
Or, as stated before, using the technical approach to have multiple models for the core tunnel.
I think the tunnels should not get changed you can make out how each structure is different according to the roles it will play. End of discussion. It's there mod and things will be modled textured and created in the way they seem fit. So please both of you stfu and stop flaming each other I don't want a repeat of the past.
Lol all this arguing over some dam holes.
Anyways nice models especially this one and its a cool idea... I implemented a similar tunnel idea for my mod too, but before I saw this I promise. :)
Nice enough. Will SCUD Launcher fit into it? Or you are planning to replace SCUD Launcher?
Is it just the poles and banner partially obscuring the entrance or is this particular tunnel steeper than normal? It looks like vehicles would have a hard time driving out.
As for adding things to the tunnel to make it look like a normal Sneak Attack that has then had some fortifications added, I think this is quite a good idea & would not be too hard to do.
Overall the whole tunnel -> building idea seems really cool, and very apt for the GLA.

At least the GLA's tunnel network system is no longer dependent on tunnel networks defenses and it gives the GLA more flexibility in transporting their units since they lack the ability to airlift units like the rest of the factions.
mmm. looks like some thing from world builder...
