Nuclear weaponry might be more powerful than Neutron one in terms of destruction, however the Neutron weaponry breaks the code of several units in ROTR, and that is the true reason it has been removed. Also, in reality, neutron bombs DO destroy stuff like buildings and vehicles.

That will never happen, because Neutron Weaponry breaks several units, like the Hover Crusader, the Russian Topol, Combat Cycles and other stuff. Neutron weapons have been banned for a reason. Jarmen Kell will loose his vehicle sniper ability as well for that reason, however Nuke Cannons gain the new EMP Shells and Jarmen will also gain something useful to fill the gap ;)

Hmmm...I think that I don't understand the whole problem. Neutron Weaponry is entire system and to break it because of few units sounds doubtful. Ok Topol is a superweapon but it is possible to make an exception for it like for Emperors big monster from RA3(don't remember it's name) or like for Uberoverlord in Crazy mod - you just can't kill the driver. Topol can be recognized as a building for example and will be only temporary disabled. Cycles can blow when they lose a drivers, sorry I don't know what's wrong with Hover Crusader... And Kell's vehicle sniper ability is his integral part, it will be sadly to lose it.

EMP for China... thats cool *sarcastic*, why dont give a USA a toxins? Or lasers to GLA? I think a EMP is HORRIBLE idea for China.

Well, Combat Cycles will not be in RotR for a long time so we should dont care about that. Topols aswell will be in 2.0, which will be also released when we all will have a white hair and beard.

And removing Jarmen his pilot sniper ability is same like removing Black Lotus her hacking ability. Really in many ways RotR improves a game, but onthe other hand it ruins a game.

When Hover Crusader lost his crew, it will simply land like Hover MRLS from TS when a Ion Storm approach. But whats wrong with Topol?

Topol will be some kind of superweapon, so as I understand they are goind to cut out all "killing driver" abilities and weapons to prevent you from shooting it's driver and easy capture by infantry. I don't find this idea very exciting: to delet all such abitilies only to not allow capture of Topol. Isn't it easier just to prohibit killing of Topol's driver?

I hope its not.

For example, GLA can snipe kill then capture a topol, but they dont have acess to its ammo. Could be part of lore. A new soviet union purged from Rogue generals and smugglers.

And bout tha EMP, i think its fits china nicely.

The whole problem is the following:
Neutronizing a Hover Crusader results in instant death.
Neutronizing a Topol results in instant death.
Neutronizing a Combat Cycle results in instant death.
And several other units we do not even know about have the exact same problem. To prevent this bug from happening, ROTR prohibits any kind of kill-driver weaponry if it is not 100% needed.
Making a neutron weapon NOT kill a driver results in other bugs, since the Sentry Drone IS a drone, even in its code so it will not be neutronized. Making other units such as the Topol a drone codewise results in other bugs.

This problem DOES appear before, even in Z:H, just try to neutronize a Combat Cycle, I can tell you 100% sure it WILL die. Hover Crusader, Topol and maybe other units use the very same Bike code to function as they are supposed to do, there is no other way, except again you want a sh!tload of bugs in your precious Topol. Get over it, there are dozens of things which are way better than killing drivers.

ComeradeStalin Aug 20 2009, 5:12pm replied: Online

These things are still confusing me. Such abilities as "driver killing" are so routine and widely extended today in such kind of strategies and even before (in much worse ones). And I find an idea to break the game's mechanics due to the codding problems with 2-3 units rather unacceptable. For example what you don't like with Combat Cycles. I think that it is right that they blow when unmaned. Hower Crusaders? More or less they are not so important units to miss them so they can go to hell with Combat Cycles. As to the Topol I think that it is already disbalanced. As I understand it will replace General Zhukov's Super Weapon, right? The description says that it is poor defensed and need high protection. So let's see: if we take that new Nuke Cannon withot neutron weaponry, do you think that it's nuke shells won't destroy Topol with a single shot? So what the difference: will it be destroyed with EMP or Nukes? This situationis rather inconsistent don't you think so?
It would be even better: Russian super weapon wouldn't be captured so easily and will compensate it's weak protection compared with
super weapons of other factions.

It does not matter what you say, the team banned Neutron Weaponry and it will stay like this. There are also not only 2-3 units but MANY more likely, AFAIK there even is a building with that mechanic. Think about it for a second: is it balanced to instantkill a BUILDING with 1 single shot from a unit? No, it is not. Get over it. If you really so badly want Neutron Weaponry back, then code it in yourself.
Also, the Topol does NOT replace the superweapon of Zhukov. It is one of his special units, and will likely only replace another artillery if anything.

I don't need this hell neutron weaponry at all. I just only find this situation rather apprehensive when few codding bugs capsize the whole game thus one day we will get another CWC (or something like that) instead of ROTR.

KamuiK Aug 21 2009, 8:35am replied:

I do not really like CWC either (just not my interest, I want the actual times or scifi). Actually if you think about it, driver-kill is almost the only weaponry which has been completely removed (as far as weapons go). I really do not think that SWR Productions are going to remove other weapon trees (such as nuclear, lasers, chemical, tesla etc) as well in the way driver-kill is gone.
Also: "I just only find this situation rather apprehensive when few codding bugs capsize the whole game..." You seem to have no idea (lucky you, really) what headaches some very minor things actually have as impact on the game code. I know most of the things how Hunter codes, and I understand many of those problems and what headaches he must have at times. Example are Concripts: as you know the Conscripts gains stealth detection after buying the IR Googles. Problem is, there actually is no standart code on how to do it, so one has to think it out. Hunter found a solution. However, after buying the upgrade, Conscripts also count as buildings due to how the solution works, and one cannot place new buildings on the position. I on the other hand found out how to fix that bug (as a 1 in a million shot). And so it goes on, bug fixed -> new bug is likely in it. I hope you now understand how difficult (and annoying) the game engine SAGE can be. I have nothing against critique, as does the team, however posting rows of comments and refusing to understand is annoying as well.
Last sentence: ROTR is not and will not become another CWC.

There is really no sort of disturbance or critique in my words, and you may not consider them in such way further. You are right I can only realize about modding problems, my specialization headaches are too far from these ones and it is not a rule that all fans are to be in case.
I highly appreciate what SWR team does now and before as well I've never had an idea to force someone to accept any of my suggestions. I only express my opinion that maybe it is better to deny somethind new than to delet old conten if they have conflict, while you consider my words as a personal offense and try to explain me things which I CAN and DO NOT refuse to understand. I hope you understood me right and didn't see any bad intentions in my words.
Now this topic is really closed.

Glad to see what you wrote there. But I hope that YOU understood me right as well about the whole thing. Also, when I wrote 'I have nothing against critique' I meant that in general, not only critique about my work. Good critique is one of the best motors for efficient work, and I write this with experience for that matter.
One last thing: I may not be in the team so I would normally have no reason to write all this and explain things, but I do this as a honouring for CommanderJB who passed away and cannot speak for himself anymore. That is all from my side for now, if there are still questions, just ask ;)

Depends on what you mean by vehicle converting. If you mean empty vehicles being taken by infantry, that will still happen since there will occasionally be empty vehicles on the battlefield (vehicle recovery and support drop of the Russians which are the mentioned 100% needed from above, but nothing else). If you mean Hijackers, I have no idea.
Also, vehicles being hit by EMP are not empty, they are just deactivated. Hover Crusaders as any other vehicle as well will just stop and later drive around again when not destroyed. Watch the video for more information ;)

From the comments above i though the problem were vehicles getting their crew killed. I guess, and hope, that this wont knock my precious hijackers outa the game! For when it attacks, the vehicle is instantly captured, with no "empty vehicle" transition in the process.

The hover crusader, if EMPed will just stay floating, but darkened and with a lil "zap" icon above its head? and then after a while it will happily move around?

No snipe kill crew, neutron bomb. Np, we'r all man and will get over it.
