Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.
The Battlemaster tank has served the People’s Republic of China for over 30 years now and its presence in the battlefield is almost symbolic. This newest variant the aging tank in use by the People's Liberation Army already comes with reactive armour built-in and now benefits from improved nuclear upgrades.
New model?
Nice.
-SWAT
Cool.
awsome!
Why go to all that effort, and then leave the ****** square barrel intact?
to give it still the C&C ZH feeling!!
That doesn't destroy anything. ;-) A bit unrealistic in too realistic reality... :-D
If it was remade too heavily it would give the impression that it acted differently in-game (which it doesn't) - it was basically a case of fix it up and move on to more pressing needs.
hei...why u dont give chinesse a new tank..?
those battle master is look to old for war..
Because the Battlemaster is a key and unique element of Chinese gameplay that the team has decided to leave unchanged to keep this feeling like an expansion mod to Zero Hour and not a conversion.
I know a good reason why the Battlemaster would stay in, if it ain't broke why fix it. Change some of the words to make it a bit more relevant.
I think it's a good thing they kept the barrel square because then it dosen't make the system requirements go up so some people who can't buy brand-new-top-of-the-line-models since their Dad got laid off so there is no more income to the family, like me, can still enjoy the mod.
why doesnt fix the model looks like real Chinese tanks like T-99?
This is something what I dont know why it is here. What exactly is that black "launcher" on turret? It is that MG?
Yes, and it's been there since Generals.
I know, but in Generals it was just a part of the design, no use of it.. but it looks more like a TOW then MG...
It has no use now either. Why bother wasting time that could be used on the ECA or GLA to highly detail an object with no function at all in-game, and which appears on a unit likely to be deployed in hordes and thus with a need to keep the poly count as economical as possible?
What? Dont understant where are you aiming.
His point is: why waste time making and CPU power running something that doesn't even work.
You mean that black (launcher) MG? Or what?
Yes.
No idea what are you talking about.
Does the era have any effect stat wise and is the bm back at its original cost or is it still 500?
No, the reactive armour is just a model enhancement. As far as I know the unit itself remains unchanged from 1.2 save the visual updates for this, Nuclear Shells and Nuclear Tanks.
Will the BM in ROTR have model variation like in SW?
Not to my knowledge.
so you're going to remodel all models in this mod? or just units?
Many things will be updated, but it's most certainly not every model. That would likely take years. Not all units will change either; some were intrinsically better looking to begin with.
nice, but wheres the Type 96 Tank at? its the china MBT, nd better then this russian handy down, yeah, i said it!
The Type 96 doesn't exist in the Generals universe, or if it does it didn't work very well. Generals isn't and never has been about real units, so the Battlemaster is the classic tank which Rise of the Reds, as an expansion mod and not a conversion, continues to use.
well i just saying the battlemaster doesnt look like a powerful tank, its looks more like the a baby t72, and we all know whathappenms to t72's when they go head to had with american and british and israili armor...lol. anyways, they should replace it, outdated and weak.
Realism is not a valid point when talking about ZH, in ZH there's a Particle Cannon and weird Microwave weapons that magically doesn't harm your own troops, in RotR the US has a hover-tank and the Chinese have a giant blimp that takes 5 huge AA missiles to down.
The BM is not meant to be a powerful tank, it's meant to be a cheap tank that's easily spammable.
China's newer MBTs, especially the new Type 99A2 is very much comparable to Western MBTs. In fact, the Type 99A2 is the only MBT that I know of that has an active laser system that blinds enemy optics and ,for those unlucky enough, literally blinds enemy Tank Commanders that are looking through their scopes.
The low polies on the Battlemaster makes the DShK 50-cal mounted on it look like a recoiless rifle...but that won't matter...
i think an IR search light and antenna will make this MBT 2X better who agress?
