Great work, still remember seeing the old black and white picture from Alliance Intelligence Reports.

And that's literally the ONLY picture of this ship that exists... Lol. Really hard to model with so little reference, so I'm glad you like it!

Just checked the Wookieepedia page and was shocked to see that it was only in that source, such a shame it looks great and should be in more sources considering it is a prison ship.

Glad to see you bring yet another WEG design to life!

Welcome to a first look at some larger ships... Fighters and corvettes are pretty much done so you can expect most space updates from now on to only get bigger ;)

Also, in-game this unit will function as a sort-of mobile barracks...in orbit. You can build squads of infantry on any world you own, whether you have buildings there or not (similar to the Arc Hammer in the OG, but for all infantry and not just droids or what have you).

It is armed lightly with 4 heavy laser cannons, a tractor beam, and moderate shielding/armor. A middle-of-the-line frigate in all respects.

Now i can deploy legions upon legions of mandalorians without having to build barracks on every planet i conquer.

Well, the squads will be smaller but for the same price. Logic being that it isn't a true barracks and it's expensive to transport that many people through space. Also to put a bit of a lid on spamming.

This ship looks kinda 40k-ish to me, like a miniature battle barge.

I thought so too, actually. It doesn't look Gothic but the profile is fairly similar.

This ship is basically the pinnacle of "ugly" industrial ship design. I just love it.^^
The infantry building sounds good as well.

Also the turrets on this thing look great.

Yeah, it's not much to look at, that's for sure... But then, most things Mandalorian are built with a function > form logic anyway. So, if this is derived from their designs then I guess it looks how one might expect. Lol

You know, it looks so much like a high-tech battering ram that I can't imagine it doing anything else but crashing into other capital ships and unloading it's armies. Or even drilling into other ships with those things at the front of it.

Great job on the texture as well, the scratches and rust really give off that prison ship vibe.

If I remember right, those things at the front are sensory equipment or something of that nature...not exactly the type of delicate high-tech you would drive nose-first into an enemy hull. Lol. But the idea is cool.

I'm glad you approve of the artwork!

Description

The Kiltirin was built by the Rendili StarDrive company sometime just prior to the Galactic Civil War. Originally, it was requisitioned by the Empire to transport captured members of the Alliance to and from prison colonies but was quickly adapted by other organizations for slave trade or combat use.

The Mandalorians took a keen interest in the Kiltirin because it utilized many concepts and design elements found in the Lictor-class dungeon ship, a much larger and older design that was built by the Mandalorian Crusaders to transport Jedi prisoners during their ancient war with the Republic.

While some Lictor-class ships have been maintained and are still in use even to this day, the Kiltirin offers a much more affordable means to the same end, even if it could transport only a fraction of the prisoners as it's older brother. However, the variant seen on the front-lines has been refitted from a prison ship to serve as a troop transport. Worlds that spot a Kiltirin in orbit should expect a sizable ground force to be greeting them very soon...
