The Empire has fallen and a New Republic is born out of the conflict. But in the ashes of civil war, yet another life stirs...
Originally, plans for the CD-10 were drawn up just before the end of the Clone Wars as part of the effort to bolster the Corellian Security Forces (CorSec) and to compete with KDY's very successful Star Destroyer line of starships.
Unfortunately, the CD-10 was only in prototyping when the Galactic Empire took hold and the heads of the CD-10 program decided to scrap the prototypes and hide the original plans away from Palpatine and his already formidable fleet. In order to avoid scrutiny and any unwelcome visits from the Imperial Navy, Corellia offered it's other -and weaker- starship designs to the Empire instead, such as the CR-75, CR-90, DP-20, and so on. The plan seemed to work and Corellia was able to keep the Empire's hands off of one of the most powerful starship designs of it's time.
After the fall of the Empire, CorSec dug up the plans and immediately began work on updating the design for the modern age. Several ships were put into production and field tested, with overwhelming success. They were then sold to the New Republic, who was eager to acquire more capital-class ships that didn't have the infamous profile of a Star Destroyer. Even a navy of peace would make most people nervous if it was comprised of old Imperial ships...
Despite the interest in the PR benefits, the CD-10 was by no means a vessel unfit for heavy combat. It bristles with heavy laser cannons, torpedo launchers and turbolasers. It houses a compliment of fighters and his a shield generator that can be temporarily overclocked to encase the CD-10 in a nearly impenetrable energy shield.
Original model made by EvilJedi...probably 1000 years ago. I updated it, unwrapped new UVs and created a totally new texture for RotM.
Put away the noose, Jeroenimo. These engines have 12 sides ;)
Was going to mention it in a comment, scroll down and see you were way ahead of me :)
Compliments on the Excellent texture, with a capital E. Even though I think the model itself looks to be quite basic, the texture sells it for full retail price. It's an admirable piece of art you've created. Mmmmmmmm I can enjoy looking at this... *unzips*
Well thank you kindly!
Kleenex are in the back...
Real modders use wash clothes, you know this.
Pffft... Just use your shirt sleeve.
Great work, Texture is very solid.
Thank you!
I always had a healthy respect for this ship. Pretty much the only warship ever to get in the way of my Mandalorian crusade.
Btw I hope you make them available in skirmish. My friend told me the Mandalorian ms are op and the Republic is up. I think having this may mitigate it a bit.
I've just always liked the model itself too. EvilJedi did a great job making a ship that was distinctly Corellian and felt like it belonged in Star Wars.
They will be available in Skirmish. They will be the direct counterpart to the ISD and Kandosii MkII.
I was always under the impression that the Corelian Destroyer was inbetween Victory Class Star Destroyers and Imperial Class Star Destroyers
This particular ship isn't even canon, so I guess it's size is subjective. The ISD will in fact, be larger though.
I meant firepower, not size, but I always figured the Destroyer was bigger than the Victory if not in width
From my experience this warship may very well outgun an Imperial-class Star Destroyer.
In the previous release, it did indeed overpower just about every other unit in the game...by a long shot. However, that won't be the case this time around. In fact, while powerful, it will be the weakest of each faction's respective "base wrecker" units. It will be, from weakest to strongest, CD-10 < Kandosii MkII < ISD.
The idea here lies in the gameplay types for each faction. Which are...
Remnant: Cheap and expendable early-game units. Stronk end-game units (ISD and ATAT, for example). Heroes have a focus on attack power. Good faction for "rush" players.
New Republic: Generally the most balanced faction from early to late game with good fighters. Units and heroes have a focus on defense and healing. Good faction for "turtle" players.
Mandalorians: Outright has some of the most powerful units but are more expensive and may take longer to build. Units are versatile, meaning less overall selection because most units can fill multiple roles (this is also appropriate based on limited Mando tech at the time). Heroes have a focus on overall support, such as stat buffs, repair/healing, multirole. Good for "adaptable" players who can move between play types when needed.
It should outgun an ISD1 but not an ISD2 if I'm not mistaken
Is the thing where the hitpoints of either of the two central turrets match the hitpoints of the overall ship going to persist? As much as the New Republic would spam these, I always thought it was kinda odd that I could have three TIE Bomber squadrons group up and take out the whole ship in one pass.
That was an issue with badly written XML code on my part. No, it will not be an issue any longer.

Haven't seen that show in a LOOONG time. Lol
Outstanding work as always! I was going to ask about the turret hardpoints, but that has already been addressed in the comments. Anyway, looking forward to what you'll show us next.
Well done. I remember the AI spamming those in the old version.^^
But I've always liked the ship design a lot, it looks like a Blockade Runner on steroids.
That's what makes it so great though is that it has distinct features of both the CR-90 and the DP-20, plus some unique aspects that would be appropriate for a capital ship, like the command bridge. It really is a brilliant design for a fan-made ship.
Don't forget the nose part, which is borrowed from the Consular-class cruiser. But the design is great indeed.
Yes, absolutely! Also a Correllian design so it all fits... Can't believe I missed the similarities myself.
simply majestic
One of my favorite ships and you made it better.
Excellent craftsmanship, the_Farseer!
Thanks you four!
Absolutely fantastic. I was eagerly awaiting the first of your capital ship redesigns, and you've managed to outdo yourself yet again! I'm looking forward to seeing your take on the Imperial warships, especially the grandaddy of 'em all, the ISD.
Even though I've only commented once or twice, its been a real pleasure to follow this mod's development through the years. The fact that ROTM v4 remains one of the best mods available despite its age is a testament to your incredible skills as a one man dev team.
I'm flattered by your kind words. Thank you!
One of the few New Republic ships I actually like. This doesn't change anything though all Rebels must burn.
reminds me of the Ra Cailum from the late Universal century Gundam series.
you can almost hear the pilots being smacked.
a one year war mod for this game would be awesome
