Well, the Arbor Day Foundation maybe... PETA doesn't have anything to do with plants. Even so, all PETA could do is write me a barely intelligible and strongly worded letter which threatens legal action that they can't actually take...

superb as always!
I would have a one tiny suggestion though - since the game canĀ“t produce ambient occlusion, I think it would add a lot of depth to the trees if you made the texture on "start" of these branches (where they are supposed to grow out of the trunk) a bit darker, since branches above them would cast shadow on those below.
here it is pretty nicely illustrated:

It would be great if that could work but the alpha shader in EaW is complete crap and any AO imitation I added would likely not even be visible.Seriously though, the alpha shader doesn't even Z-sort properly. Look at the grass next time you play...watch how two grasses will "flicker" and fight for priority in the z-buffer even when one is obviously closer to the camera than the other.

And Kashyyyk. I plan to make some Sequoia-like tree models exclusively for that map.

Will you do some properly scaled Wroshyr trees? The stock ones are hilariously undersized if you look at the trees in Episode III.

Or the trees in KotOR. Yes, I have plans for Kashyyyk. Thought it might be cool to incorporate the shadow lands somehow... like maybe one base on a beachhead and the other deep in the forest. You transition from sunny beach to dark and unsettling woodland.

Indeed. Or a map on the bridges of Kachirho like in the Republic Commando campaign. So many possibilities...

Great work! Always found the original trees detrimental to the overall portrayal of landscape, especially if you tilted the camera.

In the top left image there appears to be a tree growing out of the platform on the left bank. An oversight or an example of environment-friendly Imperial engineering?

Haha it's just an oversight. I'll fix it.

Description

New evergreen tree models, textures, and scaling. Not only are they accurately modeled after real cedar and fir trees but the textures have been totally redone to include normal mapping on the trunks and much higher resolution branches/leaves. Lastly, a second set of branches was created with inverted normals to allow for the branches/leaves to to be seen correctly from all angles. They could not be seen from below before which cause visual issues for trees seen at a distance or on hillsides, etc. It also prevented trees from reflecting properly on water.

I digress... Just look at the images and enjoy!
