Undeployed Icarus Features | Locked | |

As I chew through the "revise to final form" list, the Icarus came up; I wanted to add stablizing arms to the machine that desend when it deploys, as well as touch up the geometry and some of the texture features. As I was thinking on it, I thought that perhaps the Icarus might benefit from having some sort of function when not deployed, but nothing came to mind immediately. So I pose the question to the community; What, if anything, should the Icarus do when undeployed? I can add whatever doodads are nessesary to make it look good when I touch the model up. |

I think it need something. Perhaps something to hinder surface enemies if it need to run away, or support charging Guardians and Horizons. I was thinking GOOP Grenades, but that treads on the ARV's toes... -- Yours faithfully, That guy who does hammy stuff on a regular basis. |

As I said on the wiki, I can only think of an EXTREMELY light anti infantry machine gun (Around the power of an imperial ore collector). But thats not all that great. Pehaps some kind of Sciency support thing? Or perhaps a RoF/Anti Tank boost to nearby machine gun using units as its not using its own armour piercing shells? Edited by: Protroid -- Quick its 2am! a radar "searchlight" that paints enemy aircraft! (increases range and possible damage of other AA)? Meaning that kiting with an icarus is somewhat possible, if vindicators are closing in, undeploy, paint a enemy vindicator so the other icarus guns can fire upon it. This would be very useful since one would often spread them out to cover an area, and because of the deployment it's hard to pack up and deploy in the attacked area, so the icarus guns in each sector are easily overwhelmed by spams. I have noticed that this is the exact problem with icarus guns, if blobbed together you are prone to enemy air harrasment raids. And if spread out they are prone to enemy air blobs. |

perhaps some sort of weapon that passivly distracts aircraft instead of atacking them? a flaregun? --

How about a slow jammer? -- >.< |

Imperial Ore Collector guns are the equal of the Tengu, to my knowledge. Anyway, I'm not against the Icarus having an extra function when moving from a design perspective, but with how powerful AA they are it could be overpowered. |

A weak anti infantry weapon is totally MEH. First of all it would make it even more just a fancy Lee. Secondly it doesn't have any purpouse at all in the Tier 2's musketeers. |

Maybe it can travel on water while undeployed, but not deploy? That way it's not ripping off the Hydrofoil, but it's still just a little more flexible and can escort Riptides (its tier does hamper this, though.) Or it can be made into a relatively speedy crusher. |

Or it should have a radar dish when undeployed. Just for the heck of it . -- >.< |

when undeployed can still fire, just for much less damage, less RoF and less range? so it can't stop bombers or groups of air units like at all to save it or its allies life but can make that single cocky heli bugger off? Welcome to the wonderful world of infinite realms paradox! (aka. infinitly denied suggestions) since you are new to the infinite forums I will tell you the two unholy rules. 1. You need a Title and a forum signature. |

I think the Icarus is fine just the way it is (maybe a slight decrease to their armour and increase to their undeployed speed to more follow the Allies's playstyle). A machine gun will just make the riptide near obsolete to deal with early anti-infantry as more people will opt for the option of a super powerful AA gun. |

Maybe the poor guys could get a short speed boost upon packing up (The lore says that many Icarus pilots have high levels of paranoia) -- From chaos comes ORDER! |

Here is an idea: Icarus gets a shrapnel gun, basically a shotgun but has less range than even the Peacekeeper's Shotgun. Perfect for killing infantry that wander too close. Can also cut through light vehicles. Edited by: DarkyPwnz --

I really don't think it needs anti-infantry firepower: with how strong it is at it, it should remain the AA specialist. Besides, thats the PK Multigunner's turf. |

It is not supposed to plow through enemy infantry through, nor it can with its low armor. It's also only effective at fart sniffing range. --
