Hey,
this is couchpolster, part of the staff of the Red Alert 3 section of gamereplays.org

As you might know gamereplays.org is the biggest RA3 community out there. We are planning on launching a new feature on our portal. That feature is supposed to make custom maps and modifications of the game more popular.

ATM Paradox is nowhere near balanced for online play. We are currently deep into working on the Apocalypse Minimod, which will be tested thoroughly by our dedicated Beta Testing Team (c), and hopefully will be balanced excellently for 2-6 player online matches when it's finally finished.

The current public mod release ( Pub-beta 0.921) is just that - a beta. Once the Apocalypse Minimod is complete, attention will refocus to release 1.0, which will feature the refined Allied faction, the all-new Confederate faction, and the stock Soviet and Rising Sun factions. The first truly balanced release will be Release 2, which will include the revamped Soviet and EotRS factions, optimized for Paradox play.

We really appreciate the attention, and will express interest in working with Gamereplays to promote Paradox to a wider fanbase [however, I should probably reserve final judgment on this matter for Open-Sketchbook, the founder and leader of Paradox and Infinity Realms. I'm just a lowly particle artist ]. Of course, holding any official tournaments will most likely be out of the question until at least the Apoc Minimod, or for the final Release 1.0.

Aside from a few known and some unknown problems, Paradox is fairly balanced for online play in my opinion. The Allies probably have the upper hand against the Soviets and Empire as of now due to more options, but both of them have had some minor changes that help them fit in a bit.
Confederates vs Allies seems mostly balanced as of now as well, with some problems like everything else.

A tournament at this point would be for getting players to look deeper into balance issues and possibly reveal some problems: but a tournament should not happen until known problems are solved. (The Lee AA Half-tracks ridiculous anti-ground range, snipers in general, possibly Transport Truck balance, perhaps getting Confederate Upgrades to actually do something.)

If some Gamereplays attention was brought to Paradox, it could bring in more skilled players into the beta and with it new points of view with knowledge of RA3 balance to back it up.

Balanced aside from some problems. Some of those problems can be quite big. The pre-nerf Mesofortress was once one of those problems.

However, the things that need fixing are greatly outnumbered by the things that are working properly.

I can confirm that Reven has found a way to make the Confed upgrades work. Aside from that, I'd say that the current balance issues are actually enough to tip the scale more towards "unbalanced". After Apoc is done, we'll have regular balancing updates to the core mod. And hopefully yes, we'll have some good tourneys sooner rather than later.

I actually have some tech tree revisions I should probably post based on feedback from the beta.

It would be cool if you'd start thinking about how to present your mods (yes mods, if you want to take Apomini in too). GR has changed to widescreen format this week. You can do something like the flash object on your paradox page or simply take that flash object over. I think it would be a good if you wanted to make the presentation page on our site as flashy and stylish as possible so it looks serious.
As soon as you get the page for one of your mods done we can launch the 'Modifications' sub-forum.

After the Apocolypse Minimod is released will the gamereplays mod section for Paradox be planned?
