An expansion/overhaul mod of epic proportions, with entirely rebalanced gameplay, expanded factions, new gametypes, graphical overhauls, and five new factions; stealth-based Confederate Revolutionaries, tower defense-inspired Atomic Kingdom of China, economy-focused Mediterranean Syndicate, DotA-esque Order of the Talon and spammy Electrical Protectorate.

One of the tools at the ARVN's disposal in Deathmatch is the "Ranch Hand" protocol, which sprays Agent Orange onto an area of forest, clearing it and preventing the VC from hiding there. In real life, Agent Orange was so named because it came in an orange barrel; there were also other "colour" agents, but Orange was best known.

The thing is, real life Agent Orange looks boring; it's just a stream of white behind the planes. It could be exhaust or contrails. So, the obvious answer would be to actually make it orange. However, we run the risk of looking ignorant if we do that.

Opinions? Discussions? Suggestions?

Specifically it needs to be an effect I can create. I'll be using the Desolator Airstrike template, so it'll be a big blob of stuff on the ground, that needs to be identified as Agent Orange. So a dispersion effect and a translucent scroll texture on the ground are both needed. Possibly an aerosol hovering above the blob as well. Suggest away!

What if it started white and turned orange?

We should have it orange, and state it's caused by an additive that was required by the Allies that prevents birth defects.

We can try to add the concept of augmented reality, it is white but there can be a circle like the pawi generator in orange.

or if it's on the other side of the morality scale it can also cause soil to weaken and cause the tunnel beneath it to collapse. Or maybe both.

In my oppinion there is no need for these handwaves (though yours are clever) scince this is C&C universe where Antrax comes in green clouds and radiation is glowing green.

you will NOT look ignorant for makeing agent orange, just orange with these circumstances.

Red Alert is cheesy enough to have Agent Orange actually be Orange without so much as a blink really. :P

I like the hand-wave.

Mar 24 2011 Anchor

But as others have said, is it necessary?

Yes - it provides an obvious visual effect, makes it obvious it's Agent Orange (with the pun, heh heh), and totally fits with the Red Alert setting.

Its kind of decent lore anyway, showing the Allies' influence on the ARVN.

No, I was talking to Galgus, asking if my handwave is necessary, which he already responded to.

Make it orange, yeah. Radiation isnt orange/yellow (Gens) or green (RA2) either, same for Anthrax (Gens: green, blue and PURPLE).
