The L.U.R.K. team wants to provide the best possible experience from Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl, we don't plan to skew the scope of this game, because I, like many others, fell in love with the game because of the story, the realistic gameplay, and the atmosphere. I plan to preserve and improve on that concept to the best of my abilities, and our team has vowed to do so as well. Which is why we took it upon ourselves to provide that experience. We want to fulfill a niche that's otherwise unfulfilled in the modding community. We want to bring as many features to Stalker without damaging or changing the original theme of the game. While improving upon that concept with features that were dropped off the development cycle from GSC, such as stealth AI, and a strong foundation for balance, as well as dynamic A-Life, and an unprecedented visual presentation that no other Stalker Overhaul can touch.
Model baked and ready for mill to texture it
Fantastic, but wouldn't it have been easier to mirror GSC's model?
Quality > Quantity
Having the notion "It'll do" is why games have been released with ****** art to begin with.
The soviets once said, "Quantity has a quality all its own". Just curious, as GSC had some really Fµcked up logic regarding mirroring the gun (we could do three times the visible particles and make our own animations). Lower performance, irritate people with deliberately wrong models, AND mock those whom it bothers by giving a yellow blur across the lower portion of the screen.
TL;DR- A much smaller amount of effort still would have given better appearance and performance.
GSC's logic is, "What's more interesting to look at, slab side of rifle, or ejection port and charging lever" They picked the latter.
This would have been easier, and the default G36 model is already pretty good, but you probably noticed that this one has only one scope instead of the two mounted on the original rifle, so a new model was definitly needed here.
Actually the G36k comes one of two ways(I think), one has a scope and a red dot sight right above it and the other is just a 3x scope. But seeing as the red dot was pretty much useless in stalker I would have to agree that the single scope would be better. Too bad it's not like the Unreal engine used for RO2 where you could switch between the scope and iron sights on your sniper rifle, that would be ****** impressive to see in stalker
It´s a G36K whit the sights of the E series.
Stunning, as usual ^^
wow looks nice enough, waiting to see this with texture :D
A G36E, thank god.
If it was any other G36 variant I would beat someone up in the modding crew, because a G36E is believable, unlike a G36A2 or a K.
i actually made it becouse i really dislike the other variants being all over the place
What. Since when do you make models for LURK?
I also really dislike random G36 variants appearing in places outside Germany, well done.
I'm quite sure that's a G36K, the barrel and handguard are too short, and the barrel should extend farther away from the hand-guard if it were a G36/E.
Uh, no.
G36E was said because I'm lazy and didn't want to type G36KE.
E is for export.
Only the Bundeswehr/German military version of the G36 has a red dot optic ontop, the export is like this.
I can't wait to see Mill's WIP texture for this. Should be a treat, knowing he'll make it authentic looking.
Well done, looks very clean. How many poly's are we talking here? Around 8 to 12k ish?
its around 6.4 k tris
Clean, I like it. Well done man!
I've never heard of Maxivz in the LURK modding crew, and most of the models are made by MTindle...
I'm sure he would not post something he didn't create. Secondly, if you take a look at his profile you'll see he does loads of 3D :)
Be welcoming man! He's an awesome addition to an already awesome team imho
I won't be welcoming until I get Lurk 1.2....
It's been what, 2 years?
Hey, I've been waiting on LA for 5 years now and you don't see me being some kind of dude claiming something that's made by people for free, in their own time. You don't have to be that guy.
i have been in the lurk team for some kind of a year so far, i have made the g36 and the ppsh, i am not a very active member cause of my university, but when i have some free time i like working in my 3d
Damn I personally wish this weren't an E, I love the dual sights, even if only for the look. But I imagine you guys can't replicate those sights with the engine's limitations, so the KE is a great choice. Looks awesome.
Yeah being able to switch between the standard optics and the lower resolution sight would make the gun pretty interesting to use.
This is possible, but I don't think LURK wants this feature present for the mod I guess.
It's not possible without changing the games engine entirely..
Not the engine entirely, just add in your own language through DLL hacking. That's how it's been done in the CoP focused 'Gunslinger' mod. It uses add-on DLL's that add in new scripting functions, so that you can create stuff like that :)
Trust me, look at OGSE. They managed to get so much stuff working in their mod, while the rest of the community said some of the features were never possible to begin with.
Have to agree on OGSE, those guys have done some phenomenal work.
real gangsters use one scope for each eye
Wow, great job on this one.
sweet.
Only critique I have is that it's on safe and the ejection-port is too narrow.
Soz, airsoft/firearm nerd...
If i remember correctly the original G36 they had in game was more based on the civilian version (SL8) conversion, i love this one, great work!
The export sight -does- make more sense, but it's so damn ugly D:
Personally hoping the K w/ sight rail from 1.05 makes a comeback.
