You only need HL2:DM to play source mods... it's only $5 so it shouldn't be a problem getting if your yourself, man.
you could always just get source sdk base 2006 2007, like i do

Don't even need to buy HL2 DM, just search for that old promotion that gifts you with it (if you have an Nvidia Videocard), i think there's a promotion to ATI cards too.
