Co-founder and Animation Director for Epoch Games.
Thanks! We hope to show more soon.
1) Yes, we are still looking into a similar style for the basic controls. However, we're straying away from M&B quite a bit in a hope to improve on the concept.
2) At first likely not full-blown climbing, but ledge-grabs and minor parkour elements like that could potentially find a place if it improves the flow of things. Caving will definitely feature, though how technical we're not sure yet. ;)
This has a really nice potential. If you can nail the 'feel' it will certainly be great. I'm picturing it being somewhere between Dishonoured and Bioshock with a bit of Half-life thrown in for good measure?
Looking forward to seeing where this goes!
Don't worry, this project isn't going anyway (except on the development side ;) )
The team are very motivated, and we're making head-way.
Yep, the entire continent is rather large, but we are developing it by regions. ;)
We have considered Kickstarter, but I can't say more than that at the moment, we will announce our plans before long.
We have considered Multiplayer, but at the moment it's just not feasible. Later down the line we may look into it more seriously, but at the moment our main focus is getting a great single-player experience.
Hi Fencing Zealot, sorry, but I'm not aware of us ever saying anything about your company.
I apologise on behalf of Epoch Games if we have caused offence with anything we have posted, we don't and have never had any intention of offending anyone or anyone's work.
And I assure you that if we find that anyone on the team has publically depreciated your work while representing Epoch Games, there will be action taken.
I hope you understand, but also bear in mind that posting things like this will not help. Contact us privately if there is an issue.
Unfortunately most assets made for both versions of MERP require too much work to port (and have look good).
We probably won't be using the music either, we want to keep our style far more consistent than with MERP. It would be great to reuse as much as possible, but we can't do so without loss of quality on Althas.
Was Skyrim not 12km^2? I'm fairly sure it was 4 km X 3 km.
Hey, do you mind if I make a suggestion?
With the latest new post on here, you've actually hidden the direct link to the Kickstarter, at the moment you either have to find the last news post or go through youtube. If you want to properly drive traffic, stick a large link on the latest post as well. ;)
Indeed we are, I've already backed ;)
There's plenty to explore, yep. ;)
We are all already needing new PCs.
As for that, it would depend where in the world you go. Man is yet to reach certain corners of the continent.
Thanks Owen ;)
And yes, we'll be doing one for everyone who want's to.
We're as excited as you are ;) though pre-orders won't be for a while.
Have no fear, it's on the way. Will be out before next year ;)
<_< >_> I did nothing of the sort...
Actually, that is a pretty standard naming convention for Inns and Taverns. Though we could potentially slide a certain reference in as a name ;)
We have considered it, and will definitely attempt to get a regular schedule of content once we're further along.
That sounds rather interesting actually, looking forward to see more!
Quite possibly, and it certainly would.
The interiors will be right there in the same world. The windows even work properly ;)
So how are the controls handled in Cradle? From the look of this, it seems to be Dark Messiah-y, which is definitely a good thing if it is.
I'm looking forward to seeing how yout develop it. ;)
We're looking into having the world as alive as possible. We currently have ideas for how we can make towns as bustling as possible, we just need to be able to apply it to the game in a way that doesn't kill the playability. ;)
Hey, thanks for the coverage!
We've shared it on twitter, since you're doing us all a favour with the commentary.
We sure are ;)
Sorry, we're currently having technical issues. I'm working to get it back up as soon as possible.
Good evening all! Mind if I just do a quick little shameless plug for my project "The Lays of Althas". We've got an FAQ up currently the latest news on this page (6/11/13), but you if you're interested, please take a look at our moddb page proper: Moddb.com
Quick summary: LoA is a true RPG, set in an open world which does NOT revolve around the player. The world is active and will progress whether the player is paying attention or not.
We hope you're interested enough to at least take a peek, if you like what you see, sharing the page would really help us out.
We'd like to be able to have the support there, since the whole team comes from a modding background we appreciate it when games allow for modding, so we will certainly try out best to make it as modifiable and accessible as possible ;)
