Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) will expand upon the team-based action gameplay that it pioneered when it was launched 12 years ago.
CS: GO features new maps, characters, and weapons and delivers updated versions of the classic CS content (de_dust, etc.). In addition, CS: GO will introduce new gameplay modes, matchmaking, leader boards, and more.
"Counter-Strike took the gaming industry by surprise when the unlikely MOD became the most played online PC action game in the world almost immediately after its release in August 1999," said Doug Lombardi at Valve. "For the past 12 years, it has continued to be one of the most-played games in the world, headline competitive gaming tournaments and selling over 25 million units worldwide across the franchise. CS: GO promises to expand on CS' award-winning gameplay and deliver it to gamers on the PC as well as the next gen consoles and the Mac." CS: GO is being developed by Valve in cooperation with
Seattle-based Hidden Path Entertainment. The title is targeted for release in early 2012 and will be playable at this year's PAX Prime and Eurogamer Expo.

Hello Modders and Modies. As you know yesterday I hinted at being able to win yourself access to the newest CS:GO beta and today is the day you find out how. This is going to be a fairly simple contest to give 15 keys to our community, the other 5 keys will be given out to the some of the more active people within ModDB (as judged by staff).
To enter all you need to do is impress the staff by writing a simple limerick, poem or short story about why you should be in the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive beta and if that is too difficult counter-strike in general will also suffice. Post your entries in the comment section below. You can enter as many times as you like, and the most creative and original entries (extra points for funny entries) will win. You have two days to enter, and winners will be notified by personal message on ModDB. If you do not claim the reward within a day we will just give it too another entrant. Take note, if you submit your entries in any other way we will ignore it so don't bother.

I would like to list some observations, and interesting features that I have gradually learned about during my playtime in the beta.
- There is shadow mapping, which doesn't replace Lightmapping, but works with it.
- Viewmodel Weapon origins can be configured in real-time via the console.
- Classic maps are more balanced
- If incapacitated, you can take control of a bot on your team.
- There are far less interactive physics props in maps.
- Some maps have nearly identical geometry to Left 4 Dead 2.
- Player Logo Spraying is currently not implemented.
- Earning achievements will award you with permanent medals.
- Earning MVP stars will increase your Rank.

This game could be the next best MP game ever, except that any recent Call of Duty game can still pwn this game overall on gameplay and element features.

They still haven't learned how to make iron sites... SMH -_-
Or maybe they just don't WANT to add iron sights...

Give it up. PC gamers are going to dominate Consoles. Even Valve themselves say it.

Looks like Valve is actually throwing in a lot more than we gave them credit for. That, and the game is sexy as all hell now.
