The Raycasting Game Maker is a free easy to use game editor that creates simple raycasting games in the style of Wolf3D. The finished game needs only two files to run, an executable and a pak file with the game data. The game runs in Windowed- or Fullscreen Mode and supports 16 and 32 bit color.

I don't know who the makers of RGM are, I'm just adding it to ModDB as I made a game using it.

hi guys, love this thing. I came across an issue where normally one could add weapon bitmaps to the game bitmaps folder and than run "import game bitmaps" from RGM, but that didn't work for weapons 3 - 6 for me, nor could i save directly due to permissions, but i noticed if you opened the weapon bitmap in RGM color adjuster and save it to your game bitmap file from the color adjuster, it adds them to the game just fine. i also did some testing of the output exe and pak files with wine, i could get the menu to load, but not the pak on wine, really want to get at least both pc/mac as options, anyone else looking into this with any luck? also, anyone look into extending enemies varieties? variety is the spice of life

You will need to use winetricks, by using the command winetricks dlls d3dx9 command to get the directx 9 files, then use winetricks ddr=gdi to setup your wine graphics compatibility to directx instead opengl. It works with both editor and the games made by it, although comes without cost, it has some slow down, but it is minute and still playable nonetheless... There is no black screen, or tearing/clipping. It works near flawlessly.

Thank you, that was really helpful. I've got the winetricks ddr+gdi flipped on and that makes a difference (loading screen now shows up) but I'm having difficulty parsing the command winetricks dlls d3dx9 command stuff. Is it possible to set up in winebottler?
