The Raycasting Game Maker is a free easy to use game editor that creates simple raycasting games in the style of Wolf3D. The finished game needs only two files to run, an executable and a pak file with the game data. The game runs in Windowed- or Fullscreen Mode and supports 16 and 32 bit color.

I don't know who the makers of RGM are, I'm just adding it to ModDB as I made a game using it.

Hello there everyone

I just want to ask a question.

How do you want the ending of the game to be as in the level design? Do you all want it to be like a boss battle or a normal map? I'm asking this as I have placed a boss battle in the middle of the game so having an end boss would be weird since there is a boss in the middle of the game. The second half of the game is more about escaping a space ship. Do tell me what are your thoughts!

I am also looking for anyone that would like to design one of the maps. Me alone simply cannot make such good maps!

In other news: The game is about 90% complete with 15 levels. I also feel a bit tired working on this mod and it has been like putting a toll on me but I will finish it! Don't worry! I will probably release the entire full game before the end of the year but no promises!

Also I would love it if you could purchase the book "Of those in the background world"! Do support the author!

At one point I was able to exit a level. Now I cannot, even when I have the key. I tried running the .exe as administrator, I tried re-mapping the controls (you never know), I even deleted my installation entirely and re-downloaded the latest version. I still cannot exit a level after getting the key, even when I have multiple levels made and have the game set to contain multiple levels. And before anybody asks, all the levels are complete and aren't missing any elements. I quadruple-checked. Nobody else seems to be having this issue and I would appreciate any help on this subject, as I have lost many days of my life making assets for my game, and this one little issue has been driving me insane. Thanks in advance. -a humble game maker

What are some issues you're having? Maybe I could help!

The general speed of the game. When I'm in a corridor, the speed is fine, when I'm in a room, no matter how large, the speed drops. I think it has something to do with rendering. Do you have any ideas?

Yeah, it’s the rendering! How detailed are your floor/ceiling textures? Try to make those just solid colors and do a test run to see if that reduces lag. For the engine to have to render so many graphics in the field of view simultaneously can cause it to run slower than optimal. I personally don’t have this issue, so it can be tied to your computer specs too!

I've made all tests I could imagine. No shaders (fog), exchanging walls (lower detailed textures as you suggested, removing sprites, windowed mode... Nothing changes. The behavior is the same. I just don't get it... Thanks anyway. But if you have more suggestions, I would appreciate it.

Hmm. Have you played around with the Properties of the .exe itself? I know I had slow frame rate (nothing unplayable, felt like a steady 24 fps) until I fixed the DPI settings.

Right click > Properties > Compatibility > Change high DPI settings > Check both boxes for Program DPI and High DPI scaling override

Hope this helps. Give it a shot if you haven't!
