Why isn't there a seperate engine-page for ZDoom or GZDoom? They are much more advanced then the vanilla Doom engine they derived from.

A page about Doom Engine The Great... with Heretic screen on top!
I knew Heretic is more attracting: the "only" FPS set in fantasy\medieval enviroment.

the doom engine still is very good and easy to use, just not in its normal form. EDGE, Skulltag, Zdoom and Doom Legacy are all Derived from the doom engine and are very advanced.

Doom Engine was very advanced and popular in its time. It was technologically better than many other "3D" engines in the early 1990s as it had lots of features, such as advanced texture mapping (floors, ceilings and walls are textured, and the engine also supports transparent wall textures) and lighting. There are many high-quality games, such as Hexen and Strife, which use this engine.

Strife (released in 1996) is a Doom-engine game created by Rogue Entertainment and published by Velocity. It offered an RPG-like action game, with heavy story elements and voice-acting. Among the features were hub-levels much similar to Hexen, the ability to increase the player's accuracy with most of the weapons, an item that could destroy forcefields, and the ability to raise your maximum health from 100 to as much as 200 permanently. Strife is also the very last commercial game to use the Doom engine.
