Chrome Engine is a complete game development framework for PC and Xbox 360 (PS3 support coming within few months) utilizing all modern game programming technologies and techniques that are vital for next-gen games creation. The PC engine is optimized for both DirectX 9 and DirectX 10 (Vista). Development is supported by many useful tools that make games creation process simple and effective, the most important being expanded ChromEd. This purely “What You See Is What You Get” editor gives artists and level designers virtually limitless control over how a level will play and allows rapid levels prototyping without touching a single line of code. It is an advanced tool essential for creation of game worlds. The latest fourth incarnation of the engine, evolved through over nine years of development to fit current games industry requirements best.

The leading idea of Chrome Engine was to create a powerful game engine with all features necessary to create enterprise first person perspective (FPP) games such as advanced visualization, scripting and physics system, with integrated networking and artificial intelligence. Dividing engine into many small specialized systems allowed us to produce rapid game development environment where the only task for programmers is to combine those components with their own idea to create fully featured games. Modular C++ design, and separate DLL’s allow any developer to add and replace existing features with game-specific ones. The main goals were to keep engine as efficient and easy to use as possible, so its users don’t have to take care of technology development and may focus on providing best possible gameplay. As a result we bring you Chrome Engine which is a full-featured rapid game development system with advanced visual technologies, which incorporates all modern visualization techniques, advanced scripting system and impressive physics.

About Crimson Crow with 15 comments by ninjadave on Apr 19th, 2011

I hate to see a lot of good work go to waste, so I'm releasing (with the permission of Crimson Crow's new owner) all the old art assets originally made for Crimson Crow.

This is an accumulation of 3+ years of work, engine switching, and effort. We're certain the community can put that effort into good use.

All that we ask is that you credit the original author if you use their material.

Also note that many of these models were intended for early versions of Torque, while others may not be finished.

Wow, nice technology! The props and ragdolls have less polygons but they're shaded and rounded, making it look like MILLIONS of polygons when you only have 1000-2000! This makes no change in the graphics but improves FPS! Totally awesome. I wish I had modding skills.

I wish.
Wish.
*facepalm*

The Chrome engine is a powerful and flexible engine with a lot of neat features and an easy to use interface.

I was surprised with how easy it was to start a map right up and begin making something right away.

Exporters were a little more difficult to find, and some tutorials are unavailable or only found in other languages.

Not much to complain about, its a beautiful engine.
