Vanilla? Madder AKA VMD or VMD Sim is a Deus Ex vanilla conversion focused heavily on RPG and roleplay elements, immersive sim gameplay, modernization/QOL, and more. Skill trees, hunger/stress/smell systems, in depth character customization, status effects from foods, and so much more are included. It also boasts the ability to run with almost any mod, and, in the future, will be able to be used as a near-universal starting point for any total conversion.
Note: While not beta or demo, the project is in phase 1.5 of development. The project will reach its ultimate form at phase 4. Even at this relatively early point in its life, it is ready for quite a few hours of gameplay and boasts many fun features. Arguably, it is very much worth at least one try. Or not. You're allowed to dislike it, too.

Howdy. I talked previously about wanting to implement a female JC denton for VMD Sim. However, Xriborg and Lupus Draconis recently took a swing at it AGES before I would've even tried, and I love the resulting product. As you may have read, Phase 1.5 is already pre-packed and ready to detect LDDP 1.1 installations on the user's machine, so naturally, this synergizes VERY well with VMD Sim. Consider checking it out!

Update 2: If you receive a black menu screen on startup, delete your VMDSimUser.ini file in your DeusEx\System directory. Testing cannot consistently...
NOTE: This has been merged here as I am deprecating the joke page for VMD:L. If you want a surreal experience, have this joke mod. If you want the real...
Install guide will be in the "videos" section, but it should hopefully be self explanatory, if I've done my job right.

Does this work with Lay D Denton 1.1?
Yup. It was one of the first mods to adopt it, as of Phase 1.5. VMD adds much more character customization, so it's a good way to accessorize a female JC, in fact. Lay D Denton presence is autodetected in VMD, so make sure you have it installed. IIRC, our latest installer actually allows you to install LDDP 1.1 in tandem, but it may be an outdated version by this point, so I'd encourage you to install the real thing.
The mod doesn't seem to launch from the EXE provided, and the desktop shortcut is pathed to UnrealEd, which isn't installed by the mod.
Interesting, I've never heard of this issue before. Can you send me some screenshots of the shortcut's target path, and a log of VMDSim.exe (VMDSim.txt, it's named) after trying to launch the game?
I can't seem to get this working with the Revision mod. Is it incompatible or am I just doing it wrong?
Revision is not currently compatible with VMD, no.
To get technical, revision has a number of packages that are "base" to the game that are recompiled for revision. If it tries to load with VMD as a base, it won't find certain things (Select variables, facelift functions, select classes, etc), and hence cannot load the revision packages after loading VMD as a starting point. Revision maps cannot be loaded, either, given that they require revision packages to load.
There is discussion at some point of having a VMD addon in the Revision workshop items, so the two can merge. But that'll require special rebuilding to be done and some R&D into getting it all working. It's not something that can be done casually, even by myself at the moment.
But uh, yeah. Maybe one day.
That would be awesome. A lot of people like revision for the fact it has steam features (achievements, cloud, etc) and modular settings ahah. Especially now it has vanilla maps.
I've gotten a warning after i'd opened the exe that it's a virus, i've put it through virustotal and after a couple minutes later i'd found out that the exe comes with a trojan. This mod seems neat, but i don't wish to put my computer at risk.
And before you'll ask, i've downloaded the mod from here.
Whoops, just now saw this. The idea of a trojan would be surprising. I had the software recommended to me by a guy who's more than a little technically experienced. False positives for trojans are extremely common for installers, though. Is there any references you can give for what type of trojan it thinks it is, or what specific AV in its suite is detecting it?
EDIT: New installer is of a different make, and 1.56 is up now.
