Dawn of the Tiberium Age (DTA) is a stand-alone mod that combines Tiberian Dawn (C&C 95) and Red Alert. While classic mode gets as close to the original game-play and balance as possible, Enhanced mode provides improved game balance and a lot of fun new stuff. DTA features many customization options for Skirmish and multiplayer (where you can play as GDI, Nod, Allies and Soviet on over 200 maps), challenging original singleplayer missions, as well as co-op missions. Since this is a stand-alone mod, you don't require anything but the mod itself to be able to play: the original game is not required.
New model for the Soviet Hovercraft Transport, made by Flame! It is inspired by the real-life Zubr, and aside from the ability to transport units it also features dual forward-facing barrels to help it clear the beach for landing. Will be included in our next update.
Wait, wait, wait a second - is it going to:
A) coexist with current vanilla octagon-shaped Amphibious Transport as late-game/different cargo counterpart
B) replace current vanilla octagon-shaped Amphibious Transport for RKKA and restrict the former to Allied Nations arsenal?
It's a replacement
I really like how this mod actually gave RA1 Soviets an even better Navy than what they get in RA2.
Gorgeous, I love it
Love barrels? What do they do?
Fling HEAT shells that destroy private property and kill imperialist bourgeoisie
And by "imperialist bourgeoisie", you mean other soviets of the wrong faction, the people whose killing is politically expedient, and the actual revolting working class because the communist measures failed spectacularly.
Everyone who Comrade Stalin says to be imperialist bourgeoisie is going to get HEAT shells - men, women and children, no exceptions.
Everybody who disagrees with previous statement will be reprimanded, if it carries on will be put in penal battalion and if even then it carries on will also get HEAT shells.
Giant Soviet Bumper Cars.
Will it be able to carry the Behemoth and other land vehicles restricted by the chinook?
Amphibious transports transport superheavy vehicles even now, I don't think it will change, especially looking at that behemoth next to the Żubr.
The main reason why Behemoth can't be chinooked is that it used to be stupidly abusable in the past.
I know it well, because I was one of the abusers, hehehe...
You used to drop behe at a distance from enemy ref, shoot two barrages of napalm shells, and chinook away while the flames do the rest.
The behecopter was extremely hard to counter properly.
Doing the same with nuke trucks or MAD tanks at least requires either the chinook to get close and risk getting shot down or the unit to drive right next to the target making it prone to defense teams.
Transport hovercrafts are absolutely ponderous on land, so the risk is restricted to the waterways and you can always intercept the transport with aircraft squadron and even on water it is matched by many surface units.
Other unchinookable units are
A) transports themselves to avoid aformentioned Behecopter from coming back;
B) Enforcers because they are superheavy, well armed, uncapturable mobile barracks;
C) All regular ships because chinook can't land on water regardless of what it is carrying and with ship it can't land on land either and because it's against all common sense
I wouldn't delete the default one though. Keep it for the allies.
Deleting any original assets would hurt any true CNC fan their souls.
I agree.
Octagon transport disappearing for Soviets was an oddity for me as well, although I'm curious in how Żubr will perform so as long as the octagon is retained at least partly I'm fine with it.
Your wish was granted :)
