Half-Life: Google Translate Edition, formerly known as GoldSrc: Google Translated, is a horribly mistranslated version of several different GoldSrc games (originally I was going to do all of them, but that likely won't happen any time soon due to lack of interest) where every bit of text and dialogue has been translated to several different languages in Google Translate, and then translated back to English. This includes spoken dialogue, most UI elements, in-game titles, model textures, and map textures. No audible dialogue or legible text is safe from my shenanigans.
An official sequel, known as Half-Life 2: Google Translate Edition, is being developed by my friend Gyarik. You can find it here: Moddb.com
Wiki(very early stages, but feel free to add to it): The-mesa-black-universe.fandom.com
Nathan Abernethy: Voice of HECU Marines, Dr. Rosenberg (Blue Shift).
Ashley Nyquist: Voice of Tram Announcer, Dr. Gina Cross, and Dr. Collette Green.
Drew Nyquist: Project Leader, Texture Artist; Voice of Scientists, Security Guards, HECU Marines, Nihilanth, G-man, Black Ops, Drill Instructors, Dr. Rosenberg (Decay), and Dr. Keller.
This project was inspired by Fatguy703's "Book of Mario" series, where he did the exact same translation process with Paper Mario 64 and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. If you are a fan of either of those games, I highly recommend checking out this playlist of all of the highlights: Youtube.com
Hey all! As my life starts to get consumed by my college, work, and other adulting stuff, I decided to post one last major update.
I've gotten many questions about how to play Half-Life: Google Translate on Sven Co-op, despite the fact that I only ever designed this mod to run on single-player Half-Life. Well... I decided to change that.
Here are the other releases:
Half-Life: GTE V1.1
Opposing Force: GTE V1.1
Blue Shift: GTE V1.0
Decay: GTE BETA
Deathmatch Classic: GTE
Some time ago, I also decided to start a wiki for this series, which I have dubbed the "Mesa Black Universe."
It's very bare-bones right now, with only 4-5 incomplete articles, but I decided to leave a link to it here for people who would like to add to it. Could be an interesting way to keep track of all of the strange lore.
And now, a solemn farewell.
As mentioned above, my life has become pretty busy lately, and I will not have time to maintain support for GoldSrc: Google Translate anymore. I may release smaller updates here and there in the future, but since most people don't seem to want anymore mistransated GoldSrc games (which is totally fine), I don't really see the need to continue maintaining the project. Of course, I have enabled community-uploaded downloads, so if you would like to embark on Google-Translating a GoldSrc game or modification, please feel free! If you want even more Google-Translated Half-Life, my good friend Gyarik is currently heading the development of Half-Life 2: Google Translate edition, which you can find here: ( Moddb.com ) All three of the voice actors from this project will have roles in the sequel, so you should definitely stay tuned!
From the bottom of my heart, thank you all for the love and support that you've given this project. I'll be checking this page daily to answer any questions you might have. And pease feel free to upload streams/playthroughs of these Google Translated games! Watching you guys react to everything that happens has been by far my favorite part of making this mod. If you stream on Twitch, there's a chance that I might stop by and say hello.
Farewell, friends. See you all in Half-Life 2: Google Translate Edition!
Announcing the release of Blue Shift: GTE, and talking about the plans for GoldSrc: Google Translated.

Half-Life: Blue Shift is the latest victim of my quest to mistranslate every GoldSrc game by Valve. Please make sure HD models are disabled when you play...
Even this relatively-obscure expansion to Half-Life has fallen victim to machine mistranslation madness.
It's just like Ricochet, but slightly more popular. Slightly.
