The long-awaited Half-Life 2: Google Translate Edition is here! Experience Valve’s award-winning FPS classic the way it was truly meant to be played (probably).
Installation
Put the “HL2_GTE” file into your steam/steamapps/sourcemods folder. Restart Steam, then after launching “Half-Life 2: Google Translate Edition,” make sure to turn on subtitles! This can be done in-game by clicking on “CHOICE,” then click the “Marian” tab, and then under “Imprisonment,” select “ENABLE THIS ONE,” then click apply. After that, start a new game by clicking “that new one” and enjoy!

Make sure you're restarting steam, and not just exiting and reopening. Hope that helps.
I restarted Steam and it still isn't appearing (btw i put the mod in the sourcemods folder in the c: drive)
Hmm... are you maybe putting the .zip file in sourcemods? Make sure it's *not* the .zip folder (titled "HL2 GTE Beta") but rather the file that's in the .zip folder (called "HL2_GTE") that goes to sourcemods. Other than that, the only other idea I have is if you have more than one drive, make sure you're installing to the correct one.
when i downloaded the zip, i put the file that was in the .zip (HL2_GTE) and it still doesn't appear
did you extract it?
I was having this exact issue and the game was randomly set to hidden for some reason

im having a glitch where the chapter and weapon names dont show up as google translated, instead the chapter names are some error and the weapon names are normal like in the base game
(edit: nvm i fixed it but there's way more eardeafening static now which is annoying)
I love the music changes in this mod. Gives something else to look forward to while waiting for the next dialogue encounters.
