Thanks Shrike! Still WIP :)
Thanks Shrike! Still WIP :)
You are correct in your assumption =)
Thanks for letting us know! Its OK, we are considering releasing the demo to the general public ;)
What did you think of it?
Thanks for the encouragement =)
UPDATE: This might be tough at this stage, but I would also change the order of the segments in the video.
Start off from the segment that shows combat, as it's more exciting/interesting to watch than the current intro segment. Then, proceed to show all of the related gameplay, and potentially, show the whole kingdom at the end.
The logic is as follows: hook the player with combat right at the start, then show that the game has depth via the different combat options available and progression, then show that its just one battle and there is a whole Empire to manage.
Please keep in mind that this is my personal opinion and you can keep the video as it is ;)
Hey Emiliano,
Thanks for an interesting read. We've made a few similar mistakes on our KS page as well :)
Quick piece of advice - looking at the renewed KS page for Empires in Ruins, I feel that the separators (headers) are still a bit too big. The dark gray colour chosen for the background could also make the content feel less exciting. Although, this could be subjective.
Also, cool T-shirt design! Type A FTW =)
Good luck with your Kickstarter!
*High-five!
Done and done ;)
Thanks! Every vote helps gain momentum ;)
We are rooting for you!
Hey Kevin,
Getting some help with marketing is definitely a viable option to consider. We are a team of 7 and still the amount of work related to social stuff, pr, etc. can be staggering.
With regards to images on SG - yes, I did mean including them in the body of your Greenlight page, as well as placing a few selectively in the description. Here's an example of what I mean - Steamcommunity.com
Hope this helps!
Hi there!
We are currently preparing for Steam Greenlight ourselves and this was a useful read. Quick question: have you tried doing press outreach and if yes, what were the results?
I like the game's concept and design. The website also looks good ;)
At the same time, I have a suggestion that might help. I noticed that there are no images on your Steam Greenlight page.
Why not add a few, as well as separate the text into meaningful sections? Not only will this help with navigation, but it will also make the page visually more attractive.
The game's art style is OK, but as you mentioned, it really doesn't help Arelite Core differentiate from that 'typical game made with RPG Maker look'. This might be a tough decision, but have you considered improving the visuals?

Hi James,
Thanks for sharing your experience with crowd-funding. That was a really insightful read! We are actually in quite a similar situation as you guys.
Our team is making a unique space game and it's been tough getting the word out. You can check out our Kickstarter here - Kck.st
There might still be a way for us to help each other out. If you are interested, what would be the best way to reach you?
P.S. If you have any feedback about the video or the campaign itself, please feel free to let us know. We would be happy to consider your advice ;)
Great write-up, Brian! When I first read the title of the article, I was a bit worried that you are going down the full 3D path, which would just add unnecessary complexity, in my opinion.
In fact, we've been tackling a similar issue with movement and verticality in our space game, Starfall Tactics. You can check the blog post here - Indiedb.com
It's funny how both of our blog posts are up on the main page =)
Hey drjd24,
Our artist, D.van wanted to keep the footage under 5 min (as these kind of videos tend to drag on, at times). What ended up happening is that he basically had to cut stuff out.
We've spoken about this with the rest of the team and next time, D.van will try to capture all of the footage ;)
Hey MISTERdazzling,
Starfall Tactics has an arena mode where you fight other players using your custom-built fleet. You'll also be able to climb the ranks and participate in tournaments.
Our team is currently discussing the various missions that will be available to players. A 'horde' mode (wave survival) is just one type of mission that we are considering.
Hope this answers your question!
Hi leviberg2,
We are working on this. Although, it's been a bit tough trying to cover all the areas with just a small team. Posting regular updates on IndieDB is a start =)
