The companions are buggy and don't work no matter what STALKER game they're in, mostly because Stalker's AI is 'tard level.. But at least OGSR companions didn't constantly get frozen in place, unable to do anything.

Anomaly's companions are the buggiest, most broken companions I have ever seen, (much like most of Anomaly's content, it will continue to be purposely ignored by devs that don't have the skill to fix it.. They'll wait until some other modder fixes it and add it to their garbage.)

And it's funny, cause this issue breaks Anomaly's own game modes.. Because the only way to fix a companion to finish a companion based mission without starting from your last checkpoint (which could be hours ago,) is to load a quicksave. Something you can't do. LOL. I wonder how much the OG devs of Anomaly playtested this?

Something tells me they didn't. I think they were too busy playtesting their grapes and vienna sausages to get any real work done.

They do sometimes, when they take interest, and get permission. not sure if some other things go on behind the scenes, but lots of addons have made their way in to 1.5.1. Like the stealth addon. I heard a lot of the story based missions that are in Anomaly, were created by outsiders of the project as well.. (Ahem, like anything that will keep you playing Anomaly for any amount of time,) which I can totally believe.

Anomaly, being a sandbox mod, was probably purposely sandbox specifically when it was first created, because none of the original devs actually have any writing talent or real interest in hard work, or anything that requires thinking.

Think about it.. Nobody would ever ask for a sandbox without some kind of story.. The only people who do that, are people that claim they want that, after they start acting like rabid fanboys for a creator..

Honestly, Anomaly when it first came out, was just a big sandbox mod with an impressive graphic overhaul, nothing about it was really all that complex or impressive aside from the new items and their interactions, as well as the economy.. And that was so complex that they could barely even get it working correctly..

It seems like all of the impressive work and refinement came later with all of the modders who added to it.. Old Vanilla is crap compared to pimped anomaly with the right addons and fixes.

Even 1.5.1 is kind of crap until you kit it out with the right files, it's just a lot more stable and easier to mod than old RC incarnations etc..

I'm not impressed with the Anomaly team at all. Sorry, had to take this opportunity to shat all over them and give love to my Anomaly modders.

Thanks for bringing life to this husk.

Sick.. I wonder if there's any way to somehow manage dual wielding if you were to continue experimenting with this mod creatively.

Dual wielding submachine guns or pistols is the first thought that came to mind when I first equipped a flashlight and pistol together.

When installing this, if I don't have any mods that change the icons, would I just install the files in the main_files folder?

Bro are you sure it's not just the average internet BS? People are super frustrated and taking their rage out online these days in every way possible.. There are a lot of Anomaly fans and Anomaly is built off CoC, it's probably just rabid fanboyism and trolling. Don't let it get to you like that... They're just votes anyway. People will play what's good.

I play different versions of stalker for different reasons. I really hope GSC blows us out of the water with Stalker 2 and lets us mod it so we can all come together again.

So.. do you have any explanation for someone who just can't really seem to notice any change whatsoever?

Is it possible to just have sound drivers with good OAL compatibility, and good equipment all around, in-rig and externally, to the point where this modification would literally change nothing?

Edit: Right after I posted and proof-read, I thought "wait, this guy could just tell me my ears are broken," so I had to add, I've had my ears checked within the last decade, I'm only 33, and I cleaned them last night.. Pretty sure they're alright lol.

Edit edit: Then I just thought, "wait, it's possible that my drivers and sound equipment *aren't* compatible to a certain extent, and it's possible for them to just kind of be softlocked to a compatible config.."

That's probably the case.. Because I do have a lot of random crashes that go to the desktop with no error report, and it stops all sound on my system and requires a restart to fix it.. Not sure what causes the crash, but I always seem to get a little FPS dip when it happens.. Just odd that when it occurs, my PC's sound sometimes breaks.

Edit edit edit: And FYI I just wanted to mention that those crashes occured before *and* after I used this modification, so the mod didn't cause it. It's anomaly, another mod, or my PC.

If you're getting FPS drops after updating or adding this mod to your archive, reset your graphics settings and check off delete shader cache on your anomaly launcher. You'll have to tweak your settings again, but it's probably a good idea.

Until I did that, I was getting noticeable FPS drops on my rig while strafing/zigzagging toward/away/by fires that I wasn't getting before this update, and I've got a pretty beefy machine with my general settings toned down already just to avoid crashes (Stalker be unstable.)

It's possible that an FPS drop that wasn't there before is occurring now, there WERE quite a few changes to the fire effects. They look a lot better now. Unfortunately there's no way for me to know at this point though, since I deleted the older versions of this mod that I had on my machine after testing enough to be happy with the results.

I'll leave it for the creator to look in to if he likes. Maybe someone else will comment.

I would like to comment that somehow in Red Forest, Monolith was able to kill Hip with this mod installed and enabled. I am not sure how they did it.. I was in cover, she was out attacking a huge crowd of them head on, like companions do, and during the onslaught, some kind of damage was able to trigger her death. It was announced, and took her icon off my HUD.

You might want to comb your script for anything you might have missed or forgotten.. I wish I had more information to help you, but I'm no scripter, and possess only basic knowledge of how to change number values in them.. That's how I figured after looking at the script in notepad and gathering a general sense of how it works, that you probably just forgot some damage type.. Hopefully narrowing it down to the Monolith NPC's in the area Red Forest is at least enough to help you identify what weapon or type of damage may have caused it. It could have also been a mutant or anomaly though..? Fire?

:( This is probably going to drive you nuts.

Looks like we need a metalworking NPC now. I refuse to accept that things cannot be repaired at the atomic level in STALKER.

There are blacksmiths in Skyrim, post-apocalyptic Russia better have a blacksmith with 3 times the skill or I'm not buying it.

Is this what was causing me to get the m_wolf errors as soon as I tried to load a save with the sound overhaul mod added with dynamic mutants 1.5.1 already installed? Thanks a ton. I've been wanting to use the sound overhaul for a while but was unwilling to sacrifice dynamic mutants.

I am a little worried though that overwriting my creature .ltx files is going to create some hidden conflict that will emerge later, since I use arszi's burer overhaul and a few other mods that have overwritten creature ltx files.. I wish I knew how to properly merge them, or how to easily compare the whole text content of files so I can figure out what lines of code differ.. I may still be better off yet just dealing with the fake mutant sounds..

I know what to listen for from playing so much Stalker. Sucks but prolly the way it's gonna have to be, unless someone can ease my fears about compatibility issues. I really appreciate this work.

I don't think this is working as intended? My companions just keep getting back up on their own over time.. I want them to STAY DOWN until I can get to them and heal them... This is the same as the invincibility for companions addons.

Not sure which burer overhaul addon to put in my gamedata because I'm not sure if 1.5.1 is RC18+ or Update 4 Hotfix 8...

Are the mutant spawn points still static with this mod? I added it to my game, and I feel like every time I run through areas, all the mutants are always sitting in the same predictable spots. Some areas with zombies and a couple fractures, for instance, groups of boars and fleshes... And they're always in the same spots... I wish there was more diversity and a random element to spawns... Maybe make the spawn spots spawn different mutants sometimes, that wander?

I really need to find a way to add more of a random element to the enemies in my game.. I'm sick of knowing where everything is all the time. (Stalkers too, except the human enemies at least seem to sometimes have paths I don't know, that they walk... Some of the paths are definitely static though. But I didn't mention that as much here since this mod addresses mutants.)

The only thing I noticed this mod do that has been different and really caught me by surprise, was when I first added it to my gamedata and ran the game, I started a new game, and got attacked by a Tushkano inside the house where I spawned in the rookie village. I've never seen a tushkano in there before. Caught me totally by surprise.. I've been hoping to see more of that but haven't really, aside from that I noticed the mod seemed to add some new spawn points.. but once you get to know those, the element of surprise disappears once again.

Edit: So I messed with my mods, and I dunno what I did, or if you did something, because I did redownload and add this again.. But the yellow electric effect only flashes every so often, now.. Much better. Not sure what happened but I prefer the effect now when it only flashes occasionally. It's a nice warning, and it does look cool.

I'm getting that issue with a different file when I use this addon. I think it was m_dog something or other.. Not mwolf, or m_wolf. The issue was related to Xr_ini.cpp though, and I narrowed it down to this addon causing the conflict, I just wasn't sure what with.. I had a feeling it was probably dynamic mutants, though.

I really want to use this addon, but it just keeps conflicting with dynamic mutants. :*(

Guess I'll just add dynamic objects to give myself more cover from the mutants I can't hear coming.

Lol I just figured that out myself, literally as you posted this..

I couldn't take it any more, and really wanted the changes this mod brings, so I made another Anomaly archive on an external SSD, then started going through your mods files, and noticed the UI folder..

I tried deleting it and adding the mod and it seemed to enhance the depth of the colors, and didn't change Hip's icon any more or hide the UI, so yeah, that's def it.

Did you hit escape, go to settings, and check the UI/GUI tab and what not? Maybe the mod unticked the minimap option.. I'm not sure but maybe there is also a setting in there somewhere for turning on/off the health meter too?

I'd test this myself but like my other comment says, I just got Anomaly to work finally.. I don't want to mess it up again, but I am so tempted because this mod looks so good. :(

I'm not liking the comments about some of the bugs though.. I think I'll wait for you to iron this out a little more before I drop this mod in to my archives.. I JUST got Anomaly stable after 3 days of hell, trying to figure out what was making me crash.

The only thing I don't like about this mod is that the way it changes the graphic for gravity anomalies makes them way too easy to see, with that yellow electricity effect.. I don't like it. Now I am running around the zone like a mad man because I don't fear stepping in to anomalies if I'm not careful.

I'd probably use this mod if it had an optional version that didn't include the yellow electric anomalies.

Post healing items seem to be buggy and don't work to restore green health as static blue health all the time. How do I turn off the green health BS? Caffeine tablets for instance, usually they don't work, sometimes it makes me LOSE some green health entirely.. Sometimes they restore green as blue.
