It looks pretty good, however, the fact that you are playing as Americans who for some reason speaks German is beyond annoying.
Had you played as Germans though, I would have been happily suprised that they didnt speak English with a German accent like most gaming companies like EA or Activision would do it.
Made by germans , OBVIOUSLY they would use their OWN german actor voices .
So the Americans and Russians in Battlefield 3 should speak Swedish because DICE Swedish?
DICE has a big publisher behind them and lots of money. They can hire voice actors.
This guys don't have anyone backing them and did a great job so you and me can download this game for free.
Then the game should focus about German Military, etc rather than the American Military, etc.
Thats what I had in mind as well. Would've been a lot cooler in a "make-sense" point of view.
Us in Scandinavia is not used to voice-dubbing anything else than cartoons, hence it sounds very strange for someone like me.
What.
(I haven't played the mod yet)
I agree that it would be neat if they made the models look German or "atleast" provide German identification badges(like you usually see on military clothes)
However I understand the reason to use German voice, as it was available for them, and clearly it is a feature provided to the story of the mod.
If there are subtitles, then do I not see any reason to complain about the voice.
Yeah, I agree with you, it's kinda strange when you think about...
Yeah, but there aren't many good American VAs I've noticed. Just a lot of people who *think* they're good.
The problem here is, we have over 7000 words of dialogues with a total playtime of 27 minutes. We are ok at English, but not great. And we don't want to bother someone with a bad translation, so we have to write the script in German first and then send it to a translator. This takes a lot of time. By the time it's finished, the German dialogues are already fully recorded and we need them for reference and design. If we then would search for 10 English speakers, who also would have to lip sync their dialogues to the German speakers, it would be a nightmare to record, cut and implement.
If it really bothers you that much, just go into the audio options menu and turn down the dialogues volume to 0. You then can play Wreckage like any English mod, which just doesn't have dialogues and only subtitles.
I've got no problems with the voices , they are really good , people are just too picky and biased of the idea that US soldierd don't speak English ; think of it this way , some people don't like English voices and prefer them in Russian or their own language .
This mod is great , I've played it when it released as a mod for crysis :) , real AAA quality from all aspects . Haters gonna hate or find reasons not to like a masterpiece .
It's not that, it's that we like native people to speak their own languages, as for example: If the soldiers were Russian, they should speak russian, if they were spanish: Speak spanish, etc.
It helps with the ambience.
Anyway, I will try it out when I get my computer, and will probably enjoy it as much.
It does ? I do hope you've actually played all games in their own languages then . Witcher , polish , Gothic in german , Metro 2033 ukrainian only language .
WEird fetishes you guys got :) , you can't let go of a US soldier speaking a different language , you just can't :)
@cobacel I think you didn't get the point here. what he meant is that Russian soldiers should speak russian with one another, same goes as American soldier speak in English, German soldiers - German. It helps with the atmosphere imo.
Also, Metro 2033 migght be made by a Ukrainian company, but the setting is in Moscow
I can understand that, though, I dont see why something simple as knowing the English language would be an obstacle in such a big project like this.
Knowing a language isn't that 'simple'
It's not only about "knowing" the language but having voice actors which can transfer emotions, etc. through, while not having an all to strong accent. IMO it would be more irritating to hear the dialogues with an accent, rather than pure German.
I do get your point but they stated it would cause a lot of trouble for them to get all things settled and apparently, it's not worth the effort.
BTW excellent job guys *thumbs up*
Wow that looks awesome. Congrats on release. Downloading now!
I wish you much fun! :D
Damn, this looks awesome. Haven't played crysis in a while. This mod made me install crysis again.
If you have a fast web connection I suggest you the standalone. Because it's faster and patched. :)
Are "The Harbour" and "Rainy Days" included?
No, maybe we'll release such a version in the future, but we can't promise it. :)
I hope such thing will happen. I like playing a story from beginning to end. :)
No torrent? :(
Thepiratebay.se(Shooter)___3D___1st_ Here you go bro. :)Just copy-paste everything until the last underscore.
Thank you :D
Big applause for making it that far!
Thanks, Zipper120. :D
Are you guys planning on maybe recruiting people now for other languages as the voice cast? I'm content with reading subtitles but it would be a nice addition all the same.
Even it would be really a great addition this is just to much work for us.
Crysis was already a good game and good story, you guys made a one of a kind masterpiece. I was a little worried that it was going to be bad and just a base shootem up but you put in a good story.....well done sir!!
That's great to hear, dadto5! :)
Can i launch another mods with this? (mods for Crysis Wars)
No you can't.
And even if it would work, there would be a huge lack of missing content, because the standalone version of our mod only has the files it definitely requires.
That means that other mods, if they would at least start, have missing parts all over the game :p
Perhaps you guys should try looking for some English speaking voice actors to stop people from crying about American soldier men speaking German.
if only if only i could run it :(
There is a glitch on the part where you get on the helicopter to save jackson. I somehow got the machine gun on the helicopter able to portable as i was using in after the heli crashed. lol. Also there is a game breaking glitch after the jeep ride. No one gets out of the jeep and the path the ship is locked. HELP?
This is a known bug, but even after rebuilding the whole part the bug was still present, so it has something to do with the CryEngine. It also doesn't happen every time.
But their is a quick fix: Just go into the main menu, select Singleplayer->Chapter Selection, scroll to the very right and choose the last chapter, you should exactly start where you left off and the bug should be fixed. Just follow Major Cafferty.
Awesome mod guys.. At first I was a bit sceptical about the German voiceovers and all.. But once I played it I found out it actually might have done the mod better, by separating it from other mods (as they're usually in English). As long as there are subtitles (no shortage of them in Wreckage!) it's okey, but in this case it was very good! :)
Your cinematics are pretty cool I must say.. A bit sad your own weapons didn't fire "real" bullets with hit materials but maybe that's just me :p Loved the way the UMP operates..
Overall, definitely a great job! I just hope this is not your last work as Wreckage is the last in the trilogy. Keep up the good work :)
Wow, awesome that you guys put out a Standalone version; I never did buy Crysis Wars.
how to chang Language?
i select wrong lang i don't know German and don't know how to chang to English someone help me
The voiceovers are in German only although there are subtitles in English
"Hamers May 9 2012, 4:37pm replied:
When you first start Wreckage, an input box should appear and you have to enter 1,2,3 for German,English or Spanish subtitles. If you typed in the wrong number, browse to the Wreckage/Game/Localized folder and delete the "Default.lng" file. When you start Wreckage now, the input box should appear again.
Also just the subtitles are translated, the spoken language is always German.

Hey what do I need to play this mod? Crysis? Crysis 2? I thought Crysis Wars is a multiplayer game -.-
If you download the standalone-version you need nothing else. As ist says, it's "standalone" and can be played without any other game.
Never played Crysis before, but this is just something else. As a mod, it's very well done, and the fact that everything is in German is a bit annoying at first but it's easily adjusted to; it's why subtitles were invented. Great mod guys; the lack English voice lines is a very minor drawback in the scheme of things.
That's great to hear. :)
[Feedback] Crashed on me on the first level. Didnt get a chance to even play it. Dont release a game with a serious memory error on the first level. I have 10gigz ram and a good computer. The problem was on the game's end. I may give it another shot on a later release.
We suggest you to use the 64-Bit version.
