GMDX v8.0 is out to further critical acclaim, discover what is in store for this content-packed Deus Ex mod next:

Potential High Quality Animation Overhaul:

Sample: Vid.me

Motion-captured animations to replace a variety of existing animations, such as the goofy NPC running animation, as well as the addition of new animations where appropriate. As you can imagine, this would do a lot for Deus Ex/GMDX. If you know a thing or two about animating in the old unreal engine, especially DX's iteration of it and it's pipeline, then GMDX could use your help so drop a comment or PM. Those skilled in other fields of digital artistry are desired also.

GMDX v8.1:

Bug fixes and tweaks of the minor details mostly, v8.1 is in the works to ensure an impeccable end-user playing experience by mopping up the few bugs that slipped by v8.0's testing phase.

Changelog so far:

-Bugfix: The "do not place" test box bug when interacting with corpses if you have the the interaction auto holster option enabled is now fixed.
-Bugfix: the "Short Fuse" perk now actually works.
-Bugfix: fixed an ai cooldown issue affecting a bot activated via an alarm being triggered in the dockyard map.
-Bugfix: fixed a BSP error on the brooklyn bridge station map.
-Bugfix: JoJo now finds a path to the Rentons.
-Bugfix: The advanced security bot with cloaking now deactivates it upon returning to patrol (like the MJ12 Elite).
-Vanilla Bugfix: ensured an end-game scenario cannot be met at the Hong Kong Helibase event if Jock misses his shot at blowing up the door.
-AI accuracy with grenade throws has a touch more randomization to it to cut down on frequent perfect pitches.
-Reduced Synthetic heart energy drain considerably and halved the light aug's drain.
-NPC Head decapitation is disabled as was originally intended (because it's incomplete).
-Added a couple extra assault gun clips in the interest of ammo balancing.
-Altered stamina drain values & stamina now regenerates when crouched, if idle.

Russian Localization:

The Russians gave us the fantastic Project 2027, which English-speakers would not have been able to experience without the efforts of the volunteer translators and the developers themselves. Now to return the favor: Russian language localization for GMDX v8.0 is now in progress. Other language localizations is a possibility for the future.

Source Code Release:

GMDX pushes Deus Ex into the 21st century whilst remaining true to the original design principles of Deus Ex, and is very large and ambitious in scale. Weapons behave more polished and modern, AI are much less imperfect, bug patches are aplenty, audio design is more fleshed out, RPG systems are better balanced and have much more to offer, and system expansions further define the player's interactions the game world from physics upgrades to graphical effects. As a bonus, GMDX was also built on top of HDTP and refined many aspects of it. This makes GMDX the de facto ideal new base for future Deus Ex mods, and that's where a source code release would come in to make the life easier of those that intend to do so.

Release Date: TBD

Oh my god, I am so hyped for those new running animations. That would help the game so much it's not even funny. Those stock animations were just hilarious, and having an animation overhaul would be an absolute godsend. I'm just gonna pause my playthrough and just wait for it to come out, because that would make the game look significantly less goofy.

It's not coming any time soon, and an animation overhaul may not even be a possibility. It requires that the right people get behind GMDX. Continue your playthrough.

Not sure. I am no longer committed to it like I once was. As much as I want to be circumstances just wont allow it, but I'm not giving up on it regardless.

Is there a way to manually fix the 'do not place' bug ? Turning off the auto-holster option ain't work, reinstalling the mod\game aint work, seems like the only solution to get rid of those annoying boxes is to load the early save when this option was disabled. But it aint cool, could you help me out?

Lovely. I just recently started GMDX (just arrived in NY via subway) And this mod is hard to top.

Kudos and thanx to all involved.
Looking forward to the update.
And good luck with finding the right anim. Deus Ex needed some animation love even since day one.

;:D

I see the "Short Fuse" perk got fixed, although I haven't really experienced a problem with it. I thought it was working.
I caught the "Do Not Place Box" midway through the game, I had to get used to it. :P

8.1 is looking promising! Some very good changes (Synthetic Heart in 8.0 is god-awful, especially if you run some max'd out active augs).

Anyway, the problem I've just encountered is that Combat Medic's Bag perk at Master Medicine only lets me carry one additional biocell and one additional medkit - it caps out at 21/16 respectively. Could you try to reproduce it and fix it if it's indeed broken?

There are also some minor typos in new content descriptions; someone should make a list!

I have posted in the general bug report thread with further details + some other things. No need to clutter this comment section, right.

hmm what about the silenced sniper rifle sounding the same as an unsilenced sniper?

It doesn't, give it a test :) It changes the sound back to the vanilla one, because a little silenced pop noise is underwhelming for such a powerful weapon. I'll change it if you insist I guess.

If only surpressors in games were realistic!
Look at what we've gotten over all those years - everybody expects a quiet 'pop' that is 30dB or lower.

*In-game a silenced Glock emits 0.5 dB according to IG specs... whatever it means in game logic*

Well, in DX (set in 2052) it uses "silencers", not suppressors. Recent (2016) advancements in suppressor tech now actually suppresses even .50cal rather well. I just didn't want it to "pop" because it's underwhelming.

Author, did your mod compatible with this patch?
In case links not allowed, it is "Deus Ex Maps Patch", wich fixes minor bags, because:
"Due to an error of archiving from Eidos/IonStorm, all Deus Ex games sold in 1.112 version (Game of the Year, Collector, etc.) contain obsolete maps’ versions! More precisely, the maps present in the 1.110 version date back to June 2000 while those presented in the 1.112 version date back to May 2000. By restoring the maps back to June 2000, you will be able to correct a series of bugs and important annoyances."

Amazing work, this is my all-time favourite DX mod so far, and increases replay value so much (which is handy since I've been replaying Deus Ex once or twice every year since its release).

One very slight annoyance I've came across: on the inventory screen I used to press ALT+D to drop a selected item which now takes me to the new Dialogs screen. Is there a chance to replace the hotkey for the Dialogs screen in 8.1 to retain the original functionality?
