User Posted ImageVengeance r2 is my Quake 1 Engine mod. Vengeance revision 2 is based on QMB. This new Vengeance includes lots of new features includeing realtime lighting, light blooms, support for new file formats such as .md3, .spr32 and .pk3, an enhanced and scriptable particle system, new extensions and much, much more.

The idea for this mod is to add as many features as possible that facilitate both gameplay and modding. This includes lots of eyecandy, but keeping compatibility with both original Quake and those less fortunate in their computers.

Also included in the Vr2 project is vr2mod, a QC mod that shows off the capabilities of the Vengeance r2 engine, while also providing a fun playing experience in singleplayer and multiplayer. Features of vr2mod include smarter monsters, new maps, modified weapons, more realistic miscellaneous items (exploding boxes, lava deaths, etc), color-coded items, a flashlight and much more.

There's a double dose of download for you today! New releases of Vr2 and vr2mod have just been uploaded! We'll start with the new Vr2 additions:

  • Added fake CD tracks system
  • Added support for per-map 24-bit texture folders
  • Added to and fixed bugs in the fragment shader
  • Disabled R_PushDlights when realtime dlights and realtime world draw are enabled
  • Cleaned up problems in lamescript
  • Fixed sliding on SOLID_BBOX and _SLIDEBOX entities
  • Fixed some networking stuff
  • Fixed particle blood trails bug
  • Fixed bug in texture and model scripts
  • Changed default bloom cvar values
  • Enabled DP_GFX_SKYBOX and DP_SND_FAKETRACKS extensions

And now, on to the new additions to vr2mod:

  • New deathmatch map, vdm2.bsp
  • New version of deathmatch map vdm1.bsp
  • Added custom weapons-at-spawn cvars
  • Fixed bug in gibbable corpses
  • Fixed excessive death bubble spawning
  • Various other tweaks and bugfixes

alfaalex101: The Vr2 Engine (Vr2.exe) replaces GLQuake.exe. Vr2mod is not fully compatible with GLQuake, and requires an engine with certain extensions, like Vr2. So to run it you just put Vr2.exe where Quake.exe is, put the vr2mod folder where the id1 folder is, then run Vr2.exe -game vr2mod.

Yes, it's very easy to run original Quake with these effects - just download Vr2 and run it normally, without running (or even downloading) vr2mod.
