"Where Quake meets reality" is the motto the developers of Urban Terror have adopted. While many mod these days tend to focus on realistic game play, Urban Terror takes a "fun over realism" approach to the FPS arena.

Thirty maps including many old favourites like Docks, Ricochet and Revolution are being updated for 4.2. Dragonne and QueenBee are working hard on their maps. The player skins have been updated and a public test was conducted to determine the ones that suited the majority of gamers. The skins are designed to be seen due to the speed of the game. The unzoom on the SR8 has been changed so it does not unzoom when legs are hit and possibly the threshold will be changed. New grenade and blood effects. Armbands now show team colour for enemies no matter how they are set. Team mates' individual colours will continue to be shown in game and on the hud. You now have to crouch to pick up a weapon; no more gathering of weapons you don't want. Buga and exploits are being looked at and fixed.  Last Man Standing has been returned to the game after many years. It's Free For All without respawn. Very fun. Jump Training is designed to help teach gamers how to jump in Urban Terror. This gametype will work on maps specifically designed for jumping or regular gameplay maps. The mapper will be able to add goals and trace the jump routes to show gamers how to do them. That's it for now. We will keep you posted as development continues.

realy im not cs fan but i wanna say few words of urt and cs
Cs:little overrated but the interest comes from sounds and animations+gameplay combination
Urt:fast gameplay and tricking possibilitys and simple style
Well im not specialy interested of cs nor urt im quaker 4ever <3
Still this haves potential but i think that realy sounds are awfull exept in some weapons like desert eagle is standable sr8 is good so is psg ak is standable
But i saw video about p90 and animation is very cool sound is again littlebit bad but not too bad hope you fix sounds somewhere in 5.x
But i will try still 4.2 when it comes

I have played many fps both free and commercial and in my opinion there are few games that can compete with Urban Terror for game play. I am a new player of two weeks and I'm enjoying this game far more than any of my previous fps habits. I recently had a dispute with Steam and I since have given up all commercial games which has allowed me to finally dump Windows. Moving to Linux and searching fora solid fps brought me to this game and I only wish I had seen the light earlier!!

10/10

I dunno. I tried it and I don't see what the fuss is about. It's basically Counterstrike, but a bit faster gameplay. The action isn't too hot and the gfx are pretty basic compared to modern mods. Back in 2004 this might have been something to consider, but we're at the end of 2009 now and this mod is about half a decade too late to the party. Sorry, this just ain't a contender. Not gonna happen. :S

noob review is noob ... SIGH.

- Action is much faster
- Game speed is much faster
- Biased comments regarding every fps to CS

I guess people are entitled to their opinions , sure the game graphically isn't that great, and their not terrible either... but honestly graphics mean **** if you care about mechanics/physics moreover...

Lackluster uneducated reviews for the lose!

One of the OG fps shooters still kicking it strong... game hasn't gotten nearly enough recognition for the addictive game play it offers. Quake 3 physics with realistic guns makes for some insanely fun play. Since going stand alone there is no working Anti cheat (yet), so false accusations will be thrown around against good players... and on the flip side it can be really hard to determine who is legit unfortunately... unless of course you've been playing for years then it's easy to determine who's legit or not.

For those new to the game or just discovering it... it's not another rip off of CS... as I'm sorry that's just an ignorant observation seeing as how the game has been around just as long, but unfortunately never went the retail route... In the early days the game was just as popular traffic wise , and still gets around 10,000 active global players a day... The in game game tracker is good but it's strongly recommended to download q-tracker so you can see all the available games.

Urban terror is much more fast paced than your garden variety tactical fps, and offers much more game play physics as power sliding, circle jumping, wall jumps, and just a overall much faster style of play. I strongly recommend this game to anyone who wants to experience something fresh... Although if you get owned give it some time and try to learn the physics of the game before throwing out some accusations of cheaters... once you learn the game for what it is you'll become very hard to impress with any other fps.

This mod is kind of meh. It's clunky, the animations are so-so, give it a whirl, but beware, there is no cheat protection and the servers are loaded with aimbots, wallhackers and of course, people paranoid that everyone is using hacks.

I played this mod for a few years and have moved on. It's Christmas time. Ask mom and dad for a real game this year.
