"Where Quake meets reality" is the motto the developers of Urban Terror have adopted. While many mods these days tend to focus on realistic game play, Urban Terror takes a "fun over realism" approach to the FPS arena by keeping the Q3 speed and physics.

Report article RSS Feed Urban Terror 4.2 is in the works.

Version 4.2 of Urban Terror is now in the works. A lot of old maps are being updated for 4.2. Several bugs and exploits are being fixed. Two new gametypes have been added; Last Man Standing and Jump Training.

Posted by BladeKiller on Aug 31st, 2008

Thirty maps including many old favourites like Docks, Ricochet and Revolution are being updated for 4.2. Dragonne and QueenBee are working hard on their maps. The player skins have been updated and a public test was conducted to determine the ones that suited the majority of gamers. The skins are designed to be seen due to the speed of the game. The unzoom on the SR8 has been changed so it does not unzoom when legs are hit and possibly the threshold will be changed. New grenade and blood effects. Armbands now show team colour for enemies no matter how they are set. Team mates' individual colours will continue to be shown in game and on the hud. You now have to crouch to pick up a weapon; no more gathering of weapons you don't want. Buga and exploits are being looked at and fixed. Last Man Standing has been returned to the game after many years. It's Free For All without respawn. Very fun. Jump Training is designed to help teach gamers how to jump in Urban Terror. This gametype will work on maps specifically designed for jumping or regular gameplay maps. The mapper will be able to add goals and trace the jump routes to show gamers how to do them. That's it for now. We will keep you posted as development continues.

Wow! That's great!
One of the only games on Ubuntu, that I install without questions ))

I miss in UrT such things:
1) Automatic clip shotgun as primary weapon;
2) Separate scope as an item like silencer or redDot; replace G36 with G36C )))
3)Blinding grenade; + several types of grens to grenade launcher;
4)More pistols - anyway these are used more rarely;
5)Machine gun as a heavy gun not as mp5 with extra-long clip;
6) Automatic revolver-type grenade launcher as a primary weapon;
7) Auto-reload for single-shot weapons like grenLaun or shotgun;
8) Killing with knife from behind in a Riddick style )))

Also, Kevlar is too strong, IMHO

Hope anyone from the team would hear me )))

Also, separating items for the fighter and for the weapon would be cool - when you take not your chosen weapon that it should be with other player chosen items.
