IN-TE-RES-TING indeed. I say it really should be in UA. If it was requested over and over and over and over on Relicnews, then getting it in should make things even more awesome.

But... them polys :/

I'm no modeller, but imo, the weapons have some details that could be handled by textures, and the 4 Dreadnought-like exhaust thingies on the back have many, many sides.

If this is demetrius (spelling?) then his modelling is improving in leaps and bounds. Low poly modelling is an art that is often harder to perform than high poly; unless you focus on it to the exclusion of all else it's hard to translate between the two disciplines.

I mean, I hate excessive poly counts as well, but those exhausts only have eight sides. Maybe five or six each minimum, but you're barely saving any polys with regards to the overall mesh.

I mean, if your mesh is 400 polys and you can get it to 350, fair enough (because at that level you must be modelling for some kind of stupidly-limited rendering engine).

If your model is 9,500 and you can get it to 9,000 . . . there's not that much of a difference (especially considering that at that kind poly count, the engine isn't going to care much about a few hundred extra polys here and there). DoW can handle up to around 10,000 per mesh (rendered at once, so multiple weapon upgrades don't count) without hitting some kind of difficulty - or at least that's how the engine was designed.

Performance issues normally come from SCaR, FX and texture usage (so be careful when advising texture detail for polys. There's a reason Relic's default weapon textures are really low-res). Not poly counts.

Of course, you should still aim to get it as low as possible while looking as good as possible :D But if this is demetrius, then he's constantly improving.

Actually this model is the oldest of Demetrius work, don't ask me about the awesome of his newer pieces xD. Unfortunately we always fought with the massive polycount but heck Demetrius very well managed to tone down the polycount down to 17K Total for the entire mesh including ALL the gear. I'll have to see what can be reworked in order to not loose the awesome look but getting rid of polygon-graves in the mesh which could be possibly also realised by proper texturing.

I say let it be included after the Grand Release like when someone else demands a Dreadknight in the mod more than me.

Again honestly, what the priority demands are is...
1. *censored*
2. Warlord Titan all spiffy.
3. Revenant Titan glitchy animations fixed.
4. *censored* (you know already what I mean. ;)

But ultimately it is up to you. If you want to do it, I'll be more than delighted to put it ingame, but it all depends on your schedule. :)

They SORT OF do.
If only for newer games, on limited (actual content) quantity and as DLC counts somehow.

Of course, we want anything that comes from Games Workshop and Forge World books to be modeled, textured and animated, with all the options available for them.

Even though some people (including me) don't really like this Grey Knight penitent engine thingy-like walker, it is said to be able to match a Greater Daemon, and Grey Knights don't have loads of different units, so yeah, good addition. Just need the Stormraven now :)

Description

This is a Unit i got some time ago from the ingenious modeller Demetrius.
Unfortunately i wasn't able yet to bring it in-game since other projects cut down my time. Now i am not sure if i should start redoing this one since the polycount if this is too damn high (17K) but hell this unit is too pretty to let it die in the developers tomb.
What do you think? How bad would you like to see this unit IN-GAME?
YOU DECIDE! Leave your opinion here and have a nice day!
