The Dark Times (and its successor, Dark Times II: Rising Son) is a mod focused on delivering a solid singleplayer experience in a traditionally multiplayer game, Star Wars Battlefront II.

The mod draws from the time period before and during the beginning of the Galactic Civil War. Several prominent characters from the movies as well as the expanded universe show up as one of over 20 new heroes added to the game - each hero supported by a special "hero support" unit.

While the mod of course supports multiplayer (and in fact has some scripted missions specifically for multiplayer), the majority of the content in the mod is designed with the intent to diversify the singleplayer experience - which is why there is a focus on randomization. A number of new game modes have also been added, including the popular "wave mode."

Hi all! If you're still playing this in 2017, be aware that the Steam version of Battlefront II just issued an update that re-enables multiplayer but breaks compatibility with the 1.3 patch, a core tool used to enable a lot of the neat features in mods like this one.

Thankfully, user Spiret has updated Zerted's 1.3 patch to be compatible with the recent multiplayer update, and you can and should download it here if you're having any issues:

Old but gold. A mod from 2010 that still offers many new things, a lot of custom models ALL really well done, new gadgets (man, the ice grenade is amazing), new animations, every time you play a map you can experience a different gameplay due to weather changing and even units change. All the custom maps are beautiful and are a lot, at least for the first 10 maps you can always play different units (there are always 2/3 units that change every time). This mod also provides different modes, i'm not much of a fan of those but "Wave" is amazing. While "Control" provides you different buffs during the gameplay which is a very cool idea, "V.I.P." is a bit under tone honestly, but still pretty cool. I don't play space battles because i don't like them but "Space" on "Mon Calamari" is the best space battle i've ever played, not only there are a lot of spaceships but A.I. also goes into enemy's spaceship to fight in the hangar, INCREDIBLE. 10/10 mod.

This works with the Remaster mod

it still works, you just have to point the installer to an empty folder, then move the BDT folder to the GameData/addon folder, and copy the download GameData/data/_lvl_pc/custom_gc_11.lvl to the game's directory GameData/data/_lvl_pc/

Ignore the other files

It's an old mod, so it was installing the 1.3 patch files, which overwrite the remaster files, which you don't need.

hey idk if anyone still talks here but im just wondering how can I uninstall this mod im having a lot of trouble with this and I thought I had gotten rid of it by deleting my whole mod folder but I guess not if anyone has an answer please tell be as I am trying to get rid of it because it messed up multiplayer in such a away that I cant even click join without the game crashing

also yes I did install the mod correctly and I have the 1.3 patch

edit: I honestly will probably just give up I erased basically everything and yet still for some reason when I reinstall the game and try to add back bf legacy 3 (which I know was not the thing that messed up my game) it goes back to how it used to be dark times title screen and all and dont forget the messed up multiplayer that for some reason now want me to make a gamespy account im sorry I am not trying to hate on this mod but no matter what I do or what guide I look up to try and fix it nothing works

Just delete the BDT folder. It should be under the addon folder

"The Dark Times" is just an older version, so just download "Rising Son" as everything in the older version is included.

I installed this and then I installed the Clone Wars revised as well as a remaster. I don't see the Dark Times Galactic Conquest anywhere; the Clone Wars Revised GC is its place. What do I do to fix it?
